You Are Here – Izmir

Starbucks continues to delight us with new releases for You Are Here Series. The new mug is dedicated to Izmir. Izmir is a pretty big city in the western part of Turkey. Only Istanbul and Ankara have bigger population. Izmir is a very important transportation hub and second largest port of Turkey.
Interesting, that ancient name of the city is Smyrna and it was known centuries BC. It was founded by Greeks and was changing hands multiple times before becoming a part of Ottoman Empire in 15th century. Obviously the city is full of historic places and attractions.
Central motive for the mug is Izmir Clock Tower surrounded by two palms. We can also see sea-waves, mountains and seagulls – common attributes of a city at the Aegean Sea (elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea).
If you browse photos of Izmir, you will agree this is a beautiful place to travel to. So why not having two for one, like visiting Izmir and getting the mug? It can probably be found in Istanbul airport as well, if you use it as a connection.
