The Starbucks Been There Shanghai Limited Edition is one of the most unusual regional releases in the entire Been There collection. It appears to have been created for the opening of the Bearista Town pop-up store and museum in Shanghai, making it much more than a standard city mug. The most striking feature is its elegant chocolate-brown and gold color palette, which gives the mug a premium look unlike any regular Been There release. It even comes packaged in a matching chocolate-brown gift box, the first time Starbucks has used this color for Been There mug packaging, making the presentation just as collectible as the mug itself.… Read more

I’ve already mentioned the release of the limited-edition Shanghai mug and ornament in an earlier post. The collection appears to be tied to the opening of the Bearista Town pop-up store and museum in Shanghai. As an avid ornament collector, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity, so I ordered the Been There Ornament Shanghai Limited Edition, which arrived yesterday. My first impression? Relief – Hong Kong 2 (Dragon)

While revisiting some of the older Starbucks collections, I realized that a few Relief Series mugs are still missing from the site. One of them is the Relief Hong Kong 2 (Dragon) mug, and as the name immediately suggests, the dragon is the defining visual element of the design. The artwork places strong emphasis on the creature, giving the mug a bold and unmistakably Hong Kong identity that differs quite a bit from the more skyline-focused releases.
