You Are Here – Bodrum
Starbucks keeps releasing You Are Here mugs like crazy. Here is another one from Bodrum, Turkey. Bodrum is a city-port in southwestern part of Turkey and as many places in this region has rich history. Its ancient name is Halicarnassus and archaeological findings confirm presence of settlements back to fifteenth century BC. Halicarnassus is a hometown for Herodotus and was famous for the tomb of Mausolus, the origin of the word mausoleum, built between 353 BC and 350 BC. Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Unfortunately it was destroyed by earthquakes between 12th and 15th century. It’s squared green volcanic stones, marble columns and reliefs were used to build Bodrum Castle, which is depicted on the mug, being main point of attraction in Bodrum. We can also see a small mountain covered with squared buildings (common picture for mediterranean region), sea, sun and red flowers.
While browsing pictures of Bodrum I can’t stop admiring how beautiful that place is. No wonder it is home to multiple resorts and attracts thousands of tourists each year. All I can say it would be a wonderful experience to sip your favorite beverage at Starbucks terrace facing amazing Bodrum marina, just don’t forget to buy your mug!
