Another leaked photo – Starbucks Been There Tennessee Mug. The quality of the image is very poor and I can only recognize the Tennessee flag and electric guitar – the latter referring to state playing a critical role in the development of many forms of American popular music. Beale Street in Memphis is considered by many to be the birthplace of the blues. It is also home to Sun Records, where musicians such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and Charlie Rich began their recording careers.
Let’s wait for the release to identify more elements from this mug!
Did you like the mug? Check out these fantastic online deals for it:
The bear and mountains around the bear are for The Great Smokey Mountains National Park, the squares to the right of that are vinyl records (I assume for Sun Records in Memphis) the sliced circle above that is a Moon Pie, Lover’s Leap is part of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Big Bend State refers to the Indian name for the Tennessee River although the most common nickname for the state is The Volunteer State & having lived here almost my entire life, I’ve never heard anyone refer to it as the Big Bend State. The guitar could be for Memphis, Nashville or Bristol as Memphis has the history mentioned above, Nashville is a huge place for country music presently & Bristol being the birthplace of country music.
I have no clue what the thing to the left of the guitar is. Could be a bolo but if it is, it’s poorly drawn.
Thanks for the review Laura! This will help me a big deal in finishing the post.
I think the Big Bend state reference is actually a mistake. It should be, if anything, the Volunteer State. I think someone got Tennessee and Texas confused. There is a Big Bend State Park in TX. But, I am sure even Texas wouldn’t want to be called the Big Bend State. They are the Lone State State. I’m not very impressed with Starbucks’ version of the this Tennessee one…
Thanks for the comment, Brooks. My understanding with these nicknames and mottos, that they can’t legally use some new ones, so they choose some less known. I could be wrong though.
“Big Bend” is an alternate nickname referring to the Indian name for the TN River. Also the flag is upside down. Probably not that big a deal, but a little irksome. haha
Thanks for the comment, Mike. It looks like they are not trying to be as accurate with certain elements, like kid was drawing it.
Any idea if there will be a Nashville been there mug?
Hello Shannon.
The mug is already out: https://starbucks-mugs.com/mug/been-there-nashville/
People reported real photos, so you should definitely be able to find it in stores.
When will there be an updated list? There is a Memphis Been There mug out now too.
