Been There – Puerto Rico

With the release of Starbucks Been There Puerto Rico mug, we leave US and Canada behind and move into exploring the rest of the Americas. That’s right, with the introduction of the Been There Series, we are going to see the return of Caribbean and South American mugs. As a reminder, there were multiple Icons released for those regions, but no YAHs. I want to think this is Starbucks meeting the wishes of the collectors and I consider this a positive sign.… Read more

Been There – Montreal 2

Thanks to a very vigilant Facebook user, it was brought to my attention that there is another Canadian mug revised by Starbucks. Been There – Montreal v2 introduces the update for “Parc du Mont-Royal”, which was “Parc du Mont Royal” in the initial release (v1). Even though it was a minor, hardly visible error, I think Starbucks did the right thing fixing it.

Been There – Maryland 2

Starbucks Been There – Maryland v2 has two elements updated:
– there was this “nickname”, “Chesapeake State” which didn’t make any sense. I could not find any source which callled Maryland that way. This controversial detail has been replaced with White Oak, official tree of the state.
– “Oh say can you see…” has been replaced with “O say, can you see…” and I am not sure how accurate it is. There are slightly different variations of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” out there in internet.… Read more

Been There – Ontario 2

Here’s the second Canadian BT mug which has been revised – Been There – Ontario v2. The change is much bigger than Canada v2 from my previous post. In particular, Starbucks removed “The Heartland Province” nickname making adjacent elements bigger; the “Ice wine” has been switched with “Icewine”, which is the proper way to call the wine made from grapes that have been left to freeze naturally on the vine.

Been There – Canada 2

Here is another revised BT mug. The change we see in Been There – Canada v2 is really subtle. You actually have to play “spot the difference” game here. If you, like me, could not find it right away, here is the spoiler: the only difference is the comma in the line “The True North, strong and free”, which is a weird decision, since the official text of the Canadian anthem doesn’t have that comma. With this new releases, Starbucks is actually bringing more questions, rather than fixing things.… Read more

Been There – Denver 2

Here’s another “updated” design, which has been spotted by a Facebook user today. The change we see for Starbucks Been There Denver v2 is kind of controversial. Because even though Denver’s Wikipedia page mentions “the Mile-High City” nickname once, I could not find it written with the hyphen anywhere else, including official site of the city of Denver. With that being said, I don’t consider this mug to be the “error fix”, but advise to buy v1 as soon as possible as they are going to disappear from stores pretty soon.… Read more

Been There – Arizona 2

Ain’t no error fix, but the desire to meet the people’s demand in removing “the Sand Hill State” wording from the mug. Even though no one heard of this nickname, some resources claim it is old, but legit. Nonetheless, with the release of Starbucks Been There Arizona v2 mug, that controversial element has been replaced with lizard. It’s worth mentioning, that ornament v2 was spotted before the bigger mug.

Been There – Michigan 2

As you probably remember, in my previous post, I’ve predicted the appearance of Starbucks Been There Michigan v2 mug. And here it is, spotted online. The only difference this version is bringing, is “Winter Water Wonderland” slogan being replaced with “Water Winter Wonderland”. I do consider the Michigan v1 a State error mug, since this is the actual fix of the mistake made in the design. We’re now left guessing, why it took Starbucks so long to replace the mug, but it could easily be negligence, human factor.… Read more
