Been There – Alabama 2
Starbucks Been There Alabama v2 is an updated version of the mug that was released five years ago. I am not surprised that designers removed “the cotton state” nickname from the mug, as it was raising the question of what it has to do with Alabama. Other rather obvious changes include:
– the appearance of a friendly-looking bear and a giant butterfly
– the planes are gone. As a reminder, these were related to the Tuskegee Airmen, which were the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces.
– Starbucks coffee cup is replaced with the tumbler (you can always find one of these on any mug from the Been There collection)
– other elements are reshuffled
As I often do, I welcome you to leave a comment, on whether this is a significant change for you and if you are looking to have both mugs in your collection.
I would not have questioned “the cotton state”. There are many cotton fields there as of today. My dad as a child help his family pick cotton in the fields. They gave him a nickle per sack.
I wonder what the bear has to do with Alabama more than cotton.
