Ironically, just two days after I said I was adding the last mug from the Royal Caribbean series to the site, Starbucks released a new one: Been There – Star of the Seas. This makes it the eleventh mug dedicated to this cruise ship line, and now I’m not so sure there won’t be more.

Star of the Seas, the second vessel in Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class lineup, is set to debut in August 2025 after construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. At roughly 248,663 gross tons, it shares the title of the world’s largest cruise ship with its sister, Icon of the Seas. Measuring nearly 1200 ft. in length with 20 decks and space for more than 5,600 guests, it combines vast scale with modern tech, including efficient LNG propulsion. Homeported at Port Canaveral, it will run seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, often visiting Royal Caribbean’s private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Thrill Island is the ship’s adrenaline capital, anchored by Category 6, the largest waterpark at sea with six record-breaking slides. Guests can test their nerve on the Crown’s Edge skywalk, a hybrid ropes course and zipline suspended high above the ocean. Between the slides, cliff-like drop rides, and breathtaking ocean views, Thrill Island turns every day onboard into a heart-pounding adventure.

– For those who prefer a slower pace, Chill Island is all about relaxation with seven pools, including the sprawling Royal Bay Pool. Adults can unwind at the infinity pool in the Hideaway or sip a drink at Swim & Tonic, the cruise line’s first swim-up bar. Whether basking in the sun, floating under the shade, or enjoying a cocktail with the horizon in view, Chill Island offers a picture-perfect escape.

Surfside is designed for families with young kids, keeping everyone entertained in one easy-to-navigate area. Splashaway Bay delivers colourful slides and water cannons, while Playscape sparks imagination with climbing nets and games. Parents can relax at the nearby Lemon Post bar, knowing their kids are safe, busy, and having the time of their lives.

Social020 gives teens their slice of the ship where adults rarely venture, complete with gaming lounges, movie nights, and silent discos. Karaoke sessions and private FlowRider® surf time keep the vibe energetic and inclusive. It’s a safe space for making friends, trying new activities, and enjoying freedom without being far from the action.

Lincoln Park Supper Club transports guests to the glamour of 1930s New York with live jazz, elegant dining, and a speakeasy atmosphere. Multi-course meals are paired with immersive performances that make dinner a full-scale event. From the first cocktail to the last encore, it’s an experience that blends flavour and theatre in equal measure.

– The ship is laid out like a floating city, with eight themed neighbourhoods and over 40 bars and dining venues. Central Park offers open-air strolls surrounded by real greenery, while the Royal Promenade hums with shops, cafés, and live entertainment. AquaDome caps it off with panoramic ocean views, a theatre with water-based acrobatics, and an eclectic food hall for every craving.
