Discovery Series – Florida
This is a new release for the Sunshine State. Starbucks Discovery Series – Florida showcases the bright design using yellow, red, and green color palettes. I am monitoring the audience’s reaction and I have to admit that the opinions about the new collection are divided. As for myself, I prefer to see them in person and render my verdict then.
Back to the design of the mug, I can already see these symbols and points of interest of Florida:
– The Space Shuttle, revolutionized space travel with its reusable design and ability to ferry astronauts and payloads into orbit. Developed by NASA, it conducted numerous missions from 1981 to 2011, deploying satellites, conducting scientific research, and constructing the International Space Station. Its iconic shape and remarkable capabilities marked a significant chapter in space exploration, inspiring generations and paving the way for future spacecraft.
– The reason for the Space Shuttle to land in the design of the Florida mug is that the state is home to Cape Canaveral. Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, located on the Atlantic coast of Florida, is renowned as a hub for space exploration. Its historic significance dates back to the 1950s when it became the primary launch site for NASA’s pioneering space missions, including the Apollo moon landings. Today, it remains a vital spaceport, hosting launches by various space agencies and private companies, contributing significantly to humanity’s quest for knowledge beyond Earth’s boundaries.
– Two race cars are a reference to the Daytona International Speedway, located in Daytona Beach. It is a legendary venue synonymous with speed and excitement. Home to iconic races such as the Daytona 500 and the Rolex 24 at Daytona, it is a mecca for motorsports enthusiasts worldwide.
– Key Lime Pie is a tantalizing dessert that embodies the perfect balance of tangy and sweet flavors. Originating from the Florida Keys, this iconic pie features a smooth and creamy filling made from key lime juice, condensed milk, and egg yolks, all nestled in a buttery graham cracker crust. Its distinct tartness, derived from the unique flavor of key limes, is complemented by a refreshing zestiness that dances on the taste buds. Topped with a dollop of whipped cream or meringue, each bite offers a delightful explosion of citrusy goodness, making it a beloved treat for dessert enthusiasts everywhere.
– Flamingos are often associated with Florida due to their presence in the state’s wildlife, particularly in southern Florida. While flamingos are not native to Florida, they have become an iconic symbol of the state’s tropical and coastal environment. In the early to mid-20th century, flamingos were introduced to Florida by various attractions and private collectors, contributing to their association with the region.
– The speedboat, alligator, and manatee are the reference to the Everglades. It is a vast subtropical wilderness in southern Florida and a unique ecosystem of immense ecological importance. Spanning over 1.5 million acres, it is home to a diverse array of plant and animal species, including alligators, manatees, and the elusive Florida panther. The Everglades is characterized by its slow-moving shallow waters, sawgrass marshes, and tree islands, creating a habitat rich in biodiversity. Often referred to as the “River of Grass,” it serves as a vital water source for South Florida and plays a crucial role in maintaining the region’s hydrological balance.
– The Florida State Capitol, located in Tallahassee, serves as the seat of government for the state of Florida. With its distinctive white dome, it stands as an iconic symbol of Florida’s governance and history. Completed in 1977, the Capitol houses the chambers of the Florida Legislature, as well as the offices of the Governor and other state officials. Its architecture blends classical and modern elements, reflecting the state’s rich heritage and dynamic future. The Capitol’s grounds also feature monuments and memorials honoring Florida’s veterans and historical figures, making it not only a center of political activity but also a place of cultural significance for residents and visitors alike.
