Discovery Series Ornament – Savannah
After visiting Jacksonville, I am heading north to pick up this nice-looking Discovery Series Ornament – Savannah.
Savannah, founded in 1733 by General James Edward Oglethorpe, is recognized as the oldest permanent settlement in the state and one of the most historically significant cities in the United States. It is known as Georgia’s first planned city and attracts millions of visitors, who enjoy the city’s architecture and historic structures such as the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low (founder of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America). Originally introduced in 2009, it used a restored 1930s Melbourne streetcar, blending vintage charm with modern convenience. – Standing proudly, the historic Tybee Island Lighthouse has guided ships safely to Savannah’s harbour for over 270 years, making it one of the oldest and most intact lighthouses in America. This towering sentinel represents Savannah’s deep maritime heritage and its strategic importance as a major Atlantic port throughout American history. Visitors can climb the lighthouse’s 178 steps to witness spectacular views of the Georgia coast and gain appreciation for the generations of mariners who relied on its guiding light.
– Savannah’s honey industry is deeply rooted in the region’s rich natural landscape, where diverse wildflowers and coastal plants create the perfect environment for beekeeping. Local beekeepers uphold traditional methods passed down through generations, emphasizing sustainable practices that protect both the bees and the environment.
