Discovery Series Star Wars – Geonosis

I almost forgot to add Discovery Series Star Wars – Geonosis to my wish list. It is the third mug from the Star Wars collection which was released on May 4th, 2025 along with Kashyyyk and Tatooine.

Geonosis holds major significance in the Star Wars franchise as the birthplace of the Clone Wars. It was on this desert planet that the first large-scale battle between the Galactic Republic and the Separatists erupted in Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Geonosis is also where the secret construction of the first Death Star began and where Count Dooku and the Separatists plotted in secret. The planet’s harsh terrain, insectoid Geonosian inhabitants, and massive droid factories made it a key strategic and symbolic location in the saga’s unfolding conflict.

The design of the Discovery Series Star Wars Geonosis features the following characters and places from the beloved franchise:

– Obi-Wan Kenobi plays a key role in discovering the Separatist movement on Geonosis. While investigating an assassination attempt, he follows clues that lead him to the hidden droid factories and a meeting of powerful systems planning to leave the Republic. His capture by Count Dooku triggers a rescue mission that brings Jedi and clone troopers into full-scale battle, marking the start of the Clone Wars.

– Anakin Skywalker rushes to Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, showing both his bravery and his tendency to act on emotion. He joins the fight in the arena, where he faces deadly creatures and later duels Count Dooku. His impulsiveness and frustration are on full display, especially after losing his arm to Dooku—an injury that foreshadows his darker path ahead.

– Mace Windu leads a team of Jedi into the arena on Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan, Anakin, and their allies. Calm but powerful, he confronts Count Dooku and famously defeats Jango Fett in a dramatic moment during the battle. Windu’s leadership and lightsaber skill help hold the line until Yoda arrives with the clone army, showing his key role in the Jedi Order during the war’s outbreak.

– Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus, commands the Separatists and oversees the construction of the droid army on Geonosis. He tries to convince Obi-Wan to join him, claiming that the Republic is already under the control of a Sith Lord. After defeating both Obi-Wan and Anakin in a lightsaber duel, he briefly faces off with Yoda before escaping, showing just how dangerous he has become.

– Jango Fett is the armored bounty hunter who serves as the genetic blueprint for the Republic’s clone army. He works closely with Dooku and defends the Separatists on Geonosis, fighting bravely in the arena. Though highly skilled, Jango is ultimately defeated by Mace Windu, and his death deeply affects his son Boba Fett, planting the seeds for future revenge.
