You Are Here – Bordeaux

It seems that Starbucks You Are Here – Bordeaux mug will be released soon. Along with the announcement on their FB page, we get the sneak peek of the mug itself. They showed us a slightly open box from where we can see “BOR” letters combination and red, blue and white colors used for the design. I can also see a glass of wine, which is an undisputable symbol of this French municipality. This port on the Garonne River has been a well-known center of the wine-growing region for ages. The wine was introduced here by the Romans and thanks to the climate and soil, winemaking was a great success. Interesting enough, Malbec was the dominant grape here, until the early 19th century, when it was replaced by Cabernet Sauvignon.

Update from 2019-06-06: the mug has been revealed in stores and we can now confirm it was the wine glass on the front of the mug. I can also see the soccer ball, and that’s for Football Club des Girondins de Bordeaux which is one of the most successful football clubs in France. It was founded 137 years ago on 1 October 1881.
The background of the mug is occupied by a panorama of one of the city’s most recognizable sights, Place de la Bourse. What makes it even more amazing is The Miroir d’eau (Water Mirror) added in front of it in 2006. It allows capturing marvelous pictures of the Place, especially at night!
