Discovery Series – Boston

I’ve reviewed the Boston Ornament earlier, and it’s time for the full-sized Discovery Series Boston mug now. These are landmarks and symbols of the city that were added to the design of the mug:

– Located in the heart of Boston, Quincy Market stands as a historic marketplace that has been serving locals and tourists since 1826. This Greek Revival-style building houses dozens of food vendors, offering everything from local specialties to international cuisine. The market’s central colonnade is often filled with street performers and musicians, creating a lively atmosphere that perfectly captures Boston’s vibrant spirit.… Read more

Been There – Japan Autumn

Starbucks Been There Japan Autumn follows three other country mugs for Nippon, namely: regular, Spring, and Summer editions.

The design of the mug showcases fall colors in all their beauty. Interestingly enough, the Japanese have a special word for the tradition of autumn leaf viewing. Momiji-gari is the centuries-old practice of traveling to scenic areas to view the changing autumn leaves, particularly those of maple trees. The term literally translates to “maple hunting” or “maple viewing,” though it encompasses the appreciation of all autumn foliage.… Read more

Discovery – Niagara-on-the-Lake

Starbucks Discovery Niagara-on-the-Lake is a bigger version of the ornament that we saw earlier. On top of the symbols and landmarks from the mini mug, we have the following points of interest incorporated in the design:

Fort George stands as a remarkable testament to Canada’s military heritage, having played a crucial role in defending Upper Canada during the War of 1812. The fort’s well-preserved wooden buildings and earthen ramparts offer visitors an authentic glimpse into early 19th-century military life, complete with soldiers in period uniforms demonstrating musket firing and military drills.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Boston

Discovery Series Ornament – Boston is making a comeback as there was no mini mug for this city in the previous collection. There was one for YAH though.

Boston, founded in 1630, is one of America’s oldest cities and played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. Key events like the Boston Tea Party and Paul Revere’s ride occurred here. The city became a center of abolitionism in the 19th century and later developed into a hub for education and innovation, home to renowned institutions like Harvard University and MIT.… Read more

Starbucks You Are Here Katowice is a brand new release for a city in southern Poland that has a rich industrial history dating back to the 19th century. Discovery Series Ornament – Orlando

Discovery Series Ornament Orlando is a mini mug for a vibrant city in Florida, known for being the home of Walt Disney World and its status as one of the most-visited cities in the United States. Originally inhabited by the Timucua people, the area began to see European settlement in the 1830s, with the establishment of a small fort during the Seminole Wars. The town was officially named Orlando in 1857, possibly after a soldier named Orlando Reeves, though the exact origin remains a topic of debate.… Read more

Been There – Northwestern University

Starbucks Been There Northwestern University is probably the last mug from the Campus Collection. Looking back, it has been three years since the release of the first mug from this subset.

Northwestern University, founded in 1851, is a private research institution located in Evanston, Illinois. The university was established by nine prominent Chicago businessmen who sought to create a high-quality educational institution to serve the Northwest Territory. Initially starting with just two faculty members and ten students, Northwestern has grown into a renowned academic center with multiple campuses and a diverse student body.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Niagara-on-the-Lake

The release of the Discovery Ornament Niagara-On-The-Lake is yet another confirmation that this new series will be pretty big, with mugs and ornaments for more places than the previous collections. In the case of Niagara-on-the-Lake, we’ve seen it before in the form of the full-size mug, but not the ornament.

Niagara-on-the-Lake, located in Ontario (Canada), was originally known as Butlersburg. It was later renamed Newark when it became the first capital of Upper Canada in 1792. The town played a significant role during the War of 1812, when it was burned down by American forces in 1813.… Read more
