You Are Here – Zhangjiajie

Starbucks You Are Here – Zhangjiajie was the missing piece of the puzzle and the last mug from the list of eighty YAH mugs dedicated to China cities. For some reason, I could not get hold of it, but it is finally making its appearance here.
Zhangjiajie is a city in the northwest of China’s Hunan province and if you try to Google it, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the first thing that comes to your attention. Displayed on the back of the mug are amazing views of the pillar-like formations that are seen throughout the park.… Read more

Been There – The Florida Keys

Like I’ve mentioned in my previous post, here is the second mug from the recent U.S. release: Starbucks Been There – The Florida Keys. It is a mug for the 120 miles long chain of islands that begins at the tip of Florida and ends just 90 miles to the North from Cuba. The Keys are divided into five regions: Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine, and Lower Keys and Key West. The great part of the keys is that you can get there by car.… Read more

Been There – Monterey

After a long period of no releases for the U.S. (except updating certain cities and states with version #2), Starbucks issues two new mugs. Been There – Monterey is one of those. You might remember that there is already the Been There mug from Mexico with the name that sounds very similar. I was even confused at first, but after a closer look realized the difference (double “r” for the Mexican city).
Monterey is located on the Pacific Coast of California.… Read more

Been There – Morelia

Starbucks Been There – Morelia is the mug for the capital of the central Mexican state of Michoacán. The city is well worth visiting for its well-preserved colonial architecture. The historic center resembles the layout of the city when it was founded in 1541. Some of the most notable landmarks include the Cathedral of Morelia as well as plazas that surround it: the Plaza de Armas, (Plaza de Los Mártires), the Juárez Plaza, and the Melchor Ocampo Plaza. The front of the mug showcases the Morelia Aqueduct, which was in use till 1910.… Read more

Been There – Mazatlan

Starbucks Been There – Mazatlan was released back in 2018. It is the mug for the city on the Pacific coast of the Mexican state Sinaloa, that overlooks the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. It offers a nice combination of great sand beaches and a 13 miles long boardwalk (Malecón), which is considered to be one of the longest in the world. Add amazing local cuisine and historical architectural landmarks on top of that and you get a perfect recipe for the vacation gateway.… Read more

Been There – Leon

Here’s Starbucks Been There – Leon from 2018 which is the biggest city in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. For some reason, it was missing from my list.
The hot air balloons on the front of the mug are referring to The Leon International Balloon Festival, which is the biggest of its kind in Latin America. It takes place annually since 2002.
You can also see the boots, the belt, and the bag, on the side of the mug. That’s for the leather industry of the city, which offers numerous products within Mexico and well outside of the country.… Read more

Been There – Chihuahua

I am catching up by adding missing Mexican mugs to the site. This Starbucks Been There – Chihuahua mug has been released back in 2018. Chihuahua is the name for both the state and the city in Mexico. My understanding it is a state mug since I don’t really see any city symbols or points of interest.
The Estado Libre y Soberano de Chihuahua is the largest state in Mexico by area and hence having the nickname El Estado Grande (‘The Big State’).… Read more

Been There – Jamaica

Starbucks Been There – Jamaica introduces the switch from Icon to Been There series for “the land of wood and water.” As per the company’s Facebook page, this mug is available for purchase in all stores right now. As soon as we get better pics, we will go over the details of the design. So far, it seems they’ve added the famous motto of the island – “no problem”. I guess it is supposed to symbolize the philosophy of life or a part of Jamaican culture, which is a big topic of its own.… Read more

You Are Here – Wroclaw

Starbucks You Are Here – Wrocław has also been released past weekend. It makes it the fifth Poland YAH (not counting the Christmas version). Is it me or the latest YAHs are all pretty nice looking, at least the colors used are brighter? I think this is great, it means the designers are still investing time and effort into the You Are Here Collection, even though it is set to be phased out.
Wrocław is the largest city in the historical region of Silesia and is located on the banks of the River Oder.… Read more

You Are Here – Poznań

I could not actually believe my eyes when I saw the message from the blog reader about this release. You Are Here – Poznań pretty much questions my belief on how fast YAHs will be replaced with Been There mugs. It seems that we still have some pretty nice releases ahead of us.
Poznań is the fifth-largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland located on the Warta River in the west-central part of the county. Established in the 10th century it has a rich history and for a long time was an important political and religious center of territories that later formed the Duchy of Poland.… Read more
