Been There – Guangzhou

Much like most of the Chinese mugs from this series, Starbucks Been There – Guangzhou is an older release that I had no chance to review just yet.

Guangzhou is one of the oldest cities in the country. Its origins date back over 2,200 years to the Qin Dynasty, when it was established as a trading port. It became a crucial hub during the Tang and Song Dynasties, connecting China to the Maritime Silk Road and facilitating cultural and commercial exchanges with Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.… Read more

Been There – Nagano

Starbucks Been There – Nagano is a mug for a prefecture located in the Chūbu region of Japan. Originally settled in prehistoric times, Nagano played a significant role during the Sengoku period (1467-1615) as a strategic location for several prominent feudal lords. The area’s historical prominence was further highlighted by the construction of the famous Zenko-ji Temple in the 7th century, which became a major pilgrimage site. During the Edo period (1603-1868), Nagano thrived as a post town on the Nakasendo route, connecting Edo (modern-day Tokyo) with Kyoto.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Canada

If you follow my blog, you probably remember this post where I pointed out the grammatical error on the cover of the Niagara Falls mug. The newly released Discovery Series Ornament – Canada has this error too, but I am sure Starbucks will fix that soon.

As for the design of the new ornament, here are the symbols of Canada that we see in it:

– The beaver is one of the most enduring symbols of Canada, representing the country’s dynamic and hardworking spirit.… Read more

Discovery Series – Chicago

Starbucks Discovery Series – Chicago mug compliments the ornament that I reviewed earlier. I’ve already gone over these symbols and landmarks from the ornament: Chicago-style hot dog, the Chicago “L”, Chicago Botanic Garden, and Chicago’s musical heritage. In this post, we will take a look at the remaining elements of the design:

– The popcorn on the front of the mug is probably a reference to Garrett Popcorn Shops, which has been a staple since 1949. Garrett’s Chicago Mix, a delicious blend of caramel and cheese popcorn, has become a local and tourist favorite, embodying the city’s unique take on a classic snack.… Read more

You Are Here Ornament – Bratislava

I’ve just realized that I forgot to review this mini mug that I’ve had in my collection for a couple of months now. It is worth noting, that You Are Here Ornament – Bratislava comes out four years after the release of the bigger mug.

Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, has a rich history that spans centuries. Located at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, it has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The city’s strategic location on the banks of the Danube River made it a significant center for commerce and politics.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Oregon

The collection of mini mugs is expanding with the release of Discovery Series Ornament – Oregon. Along with the green string, the inside of the ornament is also green, which is the color that is associated with Oregon the most, thanks to the state’s lush forests, abundant natural greenery, and the iconic green color of the University of Oregon’s sports teams.

I feel like the Discovery Series Oregon Ornament has a little bit more details than other mini mugs:

Oregon’s rocky coast is a stunning testament to the state’s natural beauty, featuring dramatic cliffs, secluded coves, and rugged shorelines.… Read more

Discovery Series – Washington, D.C.

Starbucks Discovery Series – Washington, D.C., and the ornament that I’ve added already were released together earlier this month. Traditionally, the bigger mug has more elements in the design:

– The Lincoln Memorial, an iconic symbol of American democracy, stands majestically at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln, the memorial was designed by architect Henry Bacon and features a striking 19-foot marble statue of Lincoln seated contemplatively. The memorial’s classical Greek temple design, with 36 Doric columns representing the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death, draws millions of visitors annually.… Read more

Been There – Australia 2

Absolutely out of nowhere, Starbucks revealed a new version of the mug released earlier. It seems that the design of Been There – Australia 2 is entirely dedicated to surfing and anything related to it, and as you can see from the comparison picture below, there are pretty much no common elements between v1 and v2.

It is a well-known fact that surfing is deeply ingrained in Australian culture, reflecting the nation’s close relationship with the ocean and its laid-back, outdoor lifestyle.… Read more

You Are Here – Rzeszów

You Are Here – Rzeszów is the new Starbucks mug from Poland that was spotted in stores recently.

Rzeszów, a city in the southeastern part of the country, has a rich and varied history dating back to the early Middle Ages. First mentioned in 1354 when King Casimir III the Great granted it town rights, Rzeszów quickly developed as a trade and craft center. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the city prospered due to its strategic location on the trade route between Hungary and the Baltic Sea.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Chicago

I love the blue colors of the brand-new Discovery Series Ornament – Chicago. The bigger mug will follow, so stay tuned.

Chicago, known as the “Windy City,” has a vibrant history that has shaped its identity as one of the most iconic cities in the United States. Founded in 1833, Chicago quickly rose to prominence as a major transportation and trade hub due to its strategic location on the shores of Lake Michigan. The city’s history is closely intertwined with the development of the American Midwest, from the expansion of the railroad industry to the rise of the steel and manufacturing sectors.… Read more
