Starbucks releases new Star Wars Discovery Series 2025 Mugs a month early

Starbucks has launched its latest set of Star Wars Discovery Series mugs, and fans are getting an early treat this year. Traditionally released on May 4th – “May the Fourth”, a fan-made holiday that plays off the famous Jedi phrase “May the Force be with you” – the 2025 edition arrived a full month ahead of schedule. The early drop caught many by surprise, but collectors aren’t complaining.

Each year, Starbucks partners with Disney to design a new set of planet-themed mugs, adding to a growing collection that has become a must-have for both Starbucks and Star Wars fans. For 2025, the featured locations are:

– Tatooine – Perhaps the most iconic Star Wars planet, Tatooine is known for its twin suns, endless sand dunes, and as the home of both Anakin and Luke Skywalker. The mug captures the dry, sunbaked vibe of the desert world.

– Kashyyyk – Towering trees and dense forests define this lush planet, home to the Wookiees and Chewbacca himself. The design reflects the planet’s wild, untamed landscape and deep green tones.

– Geonosis – A harsh, rocky planet with a reddish-orange hue, Geonosis is infamous as the site of the first battle of the Clone Wars. The mug mirrors its arid terrain and industrial feel.

One important detail for collectors: keep the box. Each mug comes in a custom box labeled with the name of its corresponding planet. That makes the box a key part of the collectible — both for display and for identifying which box each mug comes with.

With Starbucks moving up the timeline, these mugs are expected to sell out quickly. If you hope to add them to your shelf, now’s the time to act. They are available at the parks now (Star Wars trading post), and I hope Disney will offer them at their online store soon (or by May 4th)
