Bodrum is a city-port in southwestern part of Turkey and as many places in this region has rich history. Its ancient name is Halicarnassus and archaeological findings confirm presence of settlements back to fifteenth century BC. Halicarnassus is a hometown for Herodotus and was famous for the tomb of Mausolus, the origin of the word mausoleum, built between 353 BC and 350 BC.
