When I first learned that a private collection containing several Starbucks prototype mugs was being offered for sale, I expected to find color variations or minor manufacturing differences. What I didn’t expect were design changes that reveal part of the creative process behind the final mug.

This Icon Jeddah prototype is one of those fascinating examples.

At first glance, it looks almost identical to the production mug. The city name, colors, and the historic Nasseef House featured on the front are all there.… Read more

Here’s the fresh release from Saudi Arabia, Starbucks You Are Here – Jeddah. Other spellings of this city include Jedda, Jiddah or Jidda. Ans while Riyadh is considered the political and administrative center of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah is the country’s commercial center. Given the close proximity to the Red Sea, it is also a resort and seaport, second largest in Arabian Peninsula, after Dubai. This Icon mug came from Jeddah, Saudi arabia. Dark Green is used as its theme color. Nasseef House can be seen on the front of the mug and King Fahd’s Fountain (Jeddah Fountain) on the back.
This mug is pretty common.
