Since Starbucks is on hold with new releases, I decided to check the status of the “second versions” which I expected to come out. After the update of the Maryland Been There mug, the release of the matching v2 ornament was just the matter of time. And here it is, Been There Ornament – Maryland v2

Starbucks Been There – Maryland v2 has two elements updated:
– there was this “nickname”, “Chesapeake State” which didn’t make any sense. I could not find any source which callled Maryland that way. This controversial detail has been replaced with White Oak, official tree of the state.
– “Oh say can you see…” has been replaced with “O say, can you see…” and I am not sure how accurate it is. There are slightly different variations of the “The Star-Spangled Banner” out there in internet.… Read more

Starbucks Been There Ornament Maryland mug has red string. What else:
– Ship’s wheel, sailboat, small crab and The Chesapeake State nickname – all these refer to Maryland being the home to Chesapeake Bay – 200 miles long estuary (a partially enclosed coastal body of brackish water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it, and with a free connection to the open sea)
– The official flag of the State of Maryland consists of the 17th century heraldic banner with the colors and shield from the coat-of-arms of the Calvert-Crossland families of Sir George Calvert, the first Lord Baltimore.… Read more
