I continue my journey through the New England states, pausing in the “Ocean State” to collect this beautiful Discovery Series Ornament – Rhode Island and have a cup of local Clam Chowder.

Rhode Island, officially known as the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, was founded in 1636 by Roger Williams, a religious exile from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Williams established Providence as a haven for religious freedom, which became a cornerstone of the colony’s identity. Been There Ornament – Rhode Island

Starbucks Been There Ornament Rhode Island is the smallest state, according to the front of this mini mug. There is also:
– Newport Tower – a round stone tower located in Touro Park in Newport. It was believed to represent evidence of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact, however the carbon dating proves that it was built in the mid-17th century.
– Blue violet – the state flower adopted in 1968. Interesting to know, that Rhode Island was the last state adopt an official state flower.… Read more
