Discovery Series Ornament – San Antonio

Here is the Discovery Series Ornament San Antonio for the Alamo City – a vibrant blend of history, culture, and Texas charm.

San Antonio is one of Texas’s oldest and most storied cities, founded in 1718 when Spanish settlers established the Mission San Antonio de Valero, later known as the Alamo. Over the centuries, the city grew into a lively cultural crossroads shaped by Indigenous peoples, Spanish colonial heritage, Mexican traditions, and Texan identity. Its long history is reflected in its architecture, its festivals, and the deep sense of place that still defines San Antonio today.… Read more

Discovery Series – Texas A&M University

Discovery Series – Texas A&M is a mug for a university, founded in 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, the state’s first public institution of higher learning. It was originally an all-male military school and part of the Morrill Act system that established land-grant universities across the nation. Over the years, it evolved into one of the largest and most respected universities in the United States. Its traditions, loyalty, and sense of community have remained deeply rooted in its agricultural and military beginnings.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Texas

Discovery Series Ornament – Texas is a smaller version of the full-sized mug, one of the first to be spotted from this collection.

Texas and cowboys are synonymous in American culture, embodying a rich history of rugged individualism and frontier spirit. The iconic cowboy emerged in the mid-19th century when vast cattle ranches spread across the state’s expansive landscapes. These hardy men rode horses, herded cattle, and became living symbols of American independence and resilience.

During the great cattle drives of the 1866-1886 period, cowboys would guide enormous herds from Texas ranches to railheads in Kansas, traveling hundreds of miles across challenging terrain.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Austin

With the overwhelming amount of releases from the latest collection of Starbucks mugs, it’s not easy to keep track of all of them. My pattern for adding them to the site is that I pick the unexpected ones first. Discovery Series Ornament – Austin is a good example since this city didn’t have an ornament before.

Austin, the capital of Texas, has a rich history that reflects its transformation from a frontier settlement to a vibrant cultural hub. Originally inhabited by Tonkawa, Comanche, and Lipan Apache tribes, the area was first settled by European Americans in the 1830s, when pioneers established the village of Waterloo along the Colorado River.… Read more

Discovery Series – Austin

Starbucks Discovery Series – Austin is the latest addition from Texas, which was expected, since all the collections from the past had it.

Austin stands as the proud capital of Texas, embodying the spirit of the Lone Star State. Founded in 1839, the city was named after Stephen F. Austin, the “Father of Texas.” Its origins trace back to the Republic of Texas era, when it served as the capital of the fledgling nation. Over the years, Austin evolved from a humble frontier settlement into a bustling hub of commerce, education, and government.… Read more

Starbucks Discovery Series – Texas joins the new collection too! It was rumored that the release of the Discovery Series is going to start on April 9, but it seems that many locations started selling them much earlier! Been There – Texas 3

This is not a regular release, but rather a limited edition mug, that won’t be available to the public. Yes, it seems that Been There Texas 3 will be a “very hard to find mug” unless you work for or with Starbucks Texas.
As you can see from the images below, it is drastically different from Texas v1 or Texas v2 (which are almost identical). However, the moment I saw the new mug, I’ve realized I’d seen this design before. A quick review of the previous releases brought me to Been There Dallas mug.… Read more

Been There – Texas 2

Starbucks Been There – Texas v2 introduces a minor update to the “Colorado river” writing on the side of the mug, which becomes “Colorado River”. Is that a significant change for you to have both in your collection? Let me know in the comments.

Been There Christmas – Texas

Been There Christmas Texas mug joins the party of Starbucks Been There Christmas Collection. Similar to regular mug it kept all state symbols, while having that festive look with gold linings on the white background. Btw, if you decide to use it on the daily basis, please remember, you can’t place it in microwave, because of the gold paint used. While I am sure Starbucks didn’t use real gold (you wish!), paint probably has metal particles in it. … Read more

Been There Ornament – Houston

Here’s another mini mug from Texas, this time it’s Starbucks Been There Ornament Houston. The color palette is green and brown while string is green. What do we see here:
Magnolia City is one of the earliest of Houston’s many nicknames.
a horseshoe – referring to ranchers
an oil rig – since the economy of Houston is based primarily on the energy industry, particularly oil
Houston City Hall – constructed during 1938 and 1939
I would like to specifically mention the Starbucks cup, which is supposed to be found on each of the mugs from Been There series.… Read more
