You Are Here Disney – Disneyland 2

You probably remember how Starbucks replaced Hollywood Studios with second version. Many wondered if other Disney YAHs will eventually be replaced. Looks like we have the answer now, because Hollywood Studios v2 has just been released. The mug looks great and it has aroused excitement among many collectors – enough to mention it was sold out within a day. I really hope Starbucks has more in stock as the hype in demand will remain high for some time.
I’ve never been to Disneyland, so can’t tell for sure if design hit the mark and I ask you to tell me in the comments.… Read more

You Are Here – France

Allons enfants de la Patrie, Le jour de gloire est arrivé!
Anyone wondering why am I singing La Marseillaise? Guess what? First European country YAH – France was released this week. Someone won’t agree but I think this mug is really beautiful. I really love dark blue mugs, in first place, but this one is special.
Mountains, Mont Saint-Michel, grapes, cheese and wine (back of the mug) – all you need to know about France (according to Starbucks).
Mont Saint-Michel is an island located about 700 yards (600 meters) from land and is accessible in low tide, but surrounded by water in high tide.… Read more

You Are Here – Aberdeen

Scotland scores again. Welcome the new mug from You Are Here series – Aberdeen. This city is only third by population in Scotland, yet it now has YAH and Glasgow doesn’t. Don’t forget, Edinburgh has been released long time ago too. Hey, Starbucks, what is your logic? It’s not like I am complaining, just trying to understand you.
As for the mug itself, I would like to mention Aberdeen Beach and Queens Links which is famous for it’s golden sand. Unfortunately it suffers from erosion and multiple actions are performed in order to protect it.… Read more

You Are Here – Newcastle Upon Tyne

While on vacation I missed to add two new mugs from the You Are Here series list. Starbucks in not very consistent in releasing those – one week we get nothing, the other week we get two. Anyway, please welcome Newcastle Upon Tyne mug.
This city from North East England, also commonly called simply Newcastle, is the most populous in this region. As you can see from the pic, The Castle is seen on the front of mug, which gave the name for the city.… Read more

You Are Here – Mykonos

There were some speculations about Corfu store reopening and I kind of expected a Corfu YAH to come out. Even though people wanted a re-release of Corfu Icon, I knew it will be YAH. I guess everyone was wrong since Starbucks surprised us with You Are Here Mykonos mug instead.
What can I say about that mug? It’s Greece – so lots of sun, sea and white houses with blue windows covering mountains and hills. It’s beautiful and everyone should visit Greece at least once in a lifetime.… Read more

You Are Here – Marrakech

Like I mentioned in my previous post about Casablanca, two Moroccan You Are Here mugs were simultaneously released. This is the second of them – Marrakech. Please note, Starbucks used French spelling instead of commonly used – Marrakesh. From what I understand only these two cities in Morocco have Starbucks stores, so it kind of explains the choice for these mugs.
Interesting fact – many cities in Morocco have fortified center filled with vendors which is called medinaRead more

You Are Here – Casablanca

New week, new release from Starbucks. Two new You Are Here mugs – Casablanca and Marrakech. Both from the same country – Morocco.
Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco with the population of over 5 millions. It was initially named Anfa before the Portuguese took the city over and renamed it to CasaBranca (white house in Portuguese). Later when Portugal was the part of Spanish kingdom it was adjusted to Casablanca (spanish version). Even though it was given an Arabic name in 18th century – Ad-dar Al Baidaa’ – many locals still nickname it “Casa”.… Read more

You Are Here – Roermond

Do you remember good old days when Amsterdam was the only YAH outside of US? Since then so many mugs were released that International YAHs outnumbered US YAHs. Well, the second Dutch You Are Here mug is finally here – Roermond. The color scheme is very much different from Amsterdam YAH, and is mostly orange. I expected to see both churches depicted – St. Christopher’s Cathedral and Roermond Minster or ‘Munsterkerk’, but could only recognize the first.
Similar to my previous post from today, there is no Icon or Relief for this city.… Read more

You Are Here – Kuching

What a week! Two new YAHs were announced today. This one is the first You Are Here mug from Malaysia – Kuching.
City of Kuching is the capital and the biggest city in Sarawak (Malaysian state). I have to say Starbucks chose interesting palette for this mug – black, red and grey. Quick search brings us to the answer – these are colors of Sarawak flag.
Flag_of_Sarawak.svgAnother interesting fact I would like to bring to your attention – there is no Icon or Relief for Kuching.… Read more

You Are Here – Salzburg

Remember Vienna? This is his brother – Salzburg. Yes, the second You Are Here mug from Austria.
Salzburg is the fourth-largest city in Austria and literally means “Salt Fortress”. It’s centre is very well preserved and is even considered World Heritage Site according to UNESCO.
The front of the mug shows Alps, obviously, and skis. I didn’t see the back of the mug, but I expect it has some musical instrument on it, since Mozart was born here. I am pretty sure Starbucks can’t miss to commemorate this on the mug.… Read more
