Been There – Zhuhai is a mug for a Chinese city from southern Guangdong. Zhuhai’s story begins as a cluster of humble fishing villages along China’s southern coast. For centuries, it remained quiet and low-profile – until China designated it one of the first Special Economic Zones in 1980. Since then, Zhuhai has transformed into a thriving, modern city known for its green spaces, romantic coastline, and strategic location in the Greater Bay Area.
Here are some points of interest and symbols from the design of the Been There Zhuhai mug:

I finally made it down to America’s Playground to pick up the Discovery Series Ornament – Atlantic City. It’s great to see this city finally getting its own mini mug after being overlooked for so long.
Atlantic City was founded in the 1850s as a seaside resort town, quickly gaining popularity for its beaches and fresh ocean air. By the late 19th century, it became a bustling getaway, with railroads bringing vacationers from Philadelphia and beyond. The iconic Boardwalk, built in 1870, was the first of its kind in the United States.… Read more
Starbucks Been There Sydney is a mug for the capital of New South Wales that was established as a British penal colony in 1788. It was named after Thomas Townshend, Lord Sydney, the British Home Secretary who authorized the colony’s establishment. Long before that, the area was home to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, whose connection to the land spans over 60,000 years. Today, remnants of this Indigenous heritage sit alongside colonial landmarks, modern architecture, and global influences. Sydney’s layered past shapes its identity as one of the world’s most iconic harbor cities.… Read more

As promised yesterday, I’m eager to review the design of the Discovery Series Ornament – Korea with you. Much like the other mini mugs in this new collection, it features a notably more minimalist design approach. I do, however, wish the circular element had been rendered in a color other than green – something in line with the variation Starbucks applied to its Disney ornaments.
Here are the symbols from the design of the Discovery Series Ornament Korea that I was able to spot.… Read more
Starbucks Been There – Brasília mug was released quite a while ago, and it remains widely available in stores.
Brasília wasn’t born organically like most capitals – it was imagined, designed, and raised from the ground in the middle of Brazil. Inaugurated in 1960 under President Juscelino Kubitschek, it was built to move the capital from coastal Rio de Janeiro to a more central location, spurring internal development. The city’s name simply reflects its role: the capital of Brazil – Brasília.… Read more

Big news for Starbucks collectors: the Discovery Series is officially going global. For the first time, a mug from this line has been released outside the U.S. or Canada – and it’s landing in South Korea.
As you can see from this official Starbucks’ promotional banner, along with the Korea mug, they have also dropped a matching ornament and tumbler. This is a major shift in the series, which until now has focused exclusively on North American cities and regions. Korea’s release could be the first step in a wider expansion across Asia – and potentially beyond.… Read more
