Been There – Colombia

I am wrapping up Colombian BT mugs with Starbucks Been There – Colombia. It has a distinctive design with green and yellow colors.
– The huge hat on the front of the mug is Sombrero Vueltiao, which literally translates as “turned hat”. It is a traditional Colombian headwear made from caña flecha, a type of cane that grows in the country. The production of the hat is a pretty long process and might take days or weeks. The strips of cane have to be dried and prepared in a way that they look uniform and can be easily bent.… Read more

Been There – San José

Starbucks Been There – San José is the mug for the capital and largest city of Costa Rica. The architecture was chosen as the main motive of the design. Here’s what I was able to identify:
– There is a statue of León Cortés Castro on the side of the mug. He served as President of Costa Rica from 1936 to 1940. He is remembered for introducing important bank and agrarian reforms. His construction projects include the former International Airport of La Sabana.… Read more

Starbucks Been There – Costa Rica mug is fully dedicated to wildlife and nature of this country.
– Guarianthe Skinneri or also know as Guaria Moradais in Costa Rica is a species of orchid. As per the Lankester Botanical Garden, there are 1,400 species of orchid in Costa Rica, 20 percent of which are only found there. This is maybe why it is the national flower of the country.

Been There – Bahamas

Starbucks Been There – Bahamas has been released quite a while ago and I am finally adding it to the collection. As it shows on the mug, the Bahamas can offer some amazing ocean beach time.
Did you know that this archipelago consists of more than 700 islands and islets, while only 30 are inhabited? Nassau, the capital city of the Bahamas, lies on the island of New Providence, while the Grand Bahama is the closest to US island.
The Bahamas became an independent Commonwealth realm in 1973 with Elizabeth II as its queen.… Read more

You Are Here – Mianyang

Starbucks You Are Here – Mianyang is a city mug from Sichuan Province in Southwest China.
Here are some places worth visiting:
– The Yuewang Tower was built during the Tang Dynasty by Emperor Gaozong. The best part it has a deck which allows you to see a panorama of the city, which is especially good at night when the surrounding buildings are lit in different colors (some kind of lighting show).

You Are Here – Luzhou

I am adding more China mugs in an express mode in anticipation of the Holiday season. This is Starbucks You Are Here – Luzhou which comes from Sichuan province. Luzhou was an important port on the Yangtze River since ancient times. It was also known for winemaking since the Song Dynasty. The liquor industry still remains a major part of the Luzhou economy. You Are Here – Leshan

Starbucks You Are Here – Leshan is another mug from China. Leshan, formerly known as Jiading, is a city located at the confluence of the Dadu and Min rivers in the Province of Sichuan.
– It seems Starbucks has placed Mount Emei on the front of the mug, which is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. It is known for the Leshan Giant Buddha (233 ft tall statue) that have been carved here from stone between 713 and 803.… Read more

You Are Here – Bengbu

Starbucks You Are Here – Bengbu is a mug for the city in northern Anhui Province, China. The name of the city literally translates as “Clam Wharf” or “Oyster Quay”, hence the nickname – Pearl city. From what I understand, Bengbu used to be known for a freshwater pearl fishery. If you happen to visit this city, it is highly recommended to try a local meal which is river crayfish cooked with lots of spices. You can easily find a bunch of restaurants in downtown serving this and many other dishes.… Read more
