You Are Here – Da Nang

Even though the quality of the photo is very bad, I am excited to announce the release of You Are Here Da Nang mug. It had been rumored last December, but there was no real photo of it! Today, Starbucks has opened a store in Da Nang and we can see new mugs on the shelf. Let’s wait for better pics in order to identify what design elements were used for the new release.
Update from 02/05/2018: added a better image where we can see:
– a cruise ship (referring to the fact that Da Nang is a popular resort city due it’s beautiful sandy beaches)
– fireworks (DaNang International Fireworks Festival)
Dragon Bridge – a six lanes bridge over the River Hàn opened in 2013
Hàn River Bridge – swing bridge (car traffic has to be stopped for the the bridge to swing and to allow shipping traffic to pass along the river)
It’s the first time I see two bridges depicted on one YAH and this is probably why Da Nang’s nickname is City of Bridges.… Read more

You Are Here – Leipzig

Another mug from Germany, actually 11th one, You Are Here Leipzig.
From the mug:
– Bundesverwaltungsgericht – Federal Administrative Court – one of the five federal supreme courts of Germany. It serves to resolve administrative law cases between the state and citizens (being their last resort).
– Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Völki) – Monument to the Battle of the Nations commemorating the Battle of Leipzig (1813) which ended up with the defeat of Napoleon. It was another important step done by the Sixth Coalition to end the war.… Read more

You Are Here – Budapest 2

In the lights of new series coming, Starbucks still continues releasing YAHs mugs for Europe. The “new” mug is pretty interesting because it’s not completely new, but rather bug-fixing. Why? Because it’s You Are Here Budapest 2, and the only difference from Budapest 1 seems to be the blue color used for the name of the city and the inside of the mug. Everything else is exactly the same:
Buda Castle
Millennium Underground Railway
Hungarian Parliament Building
Hősök tere (Heroes’ Square)

Been There – Arizona

Yet another leaked photo of the mug from the new series – Been There – Arizona. Again we see pretty busy design completed using orange to red patterns.
What was the inspiration for the artist here? Only seeing a small portion of the mug surface we can identify: Saguaro (tree-like cactus species), snake, canyon from Red Rock State Park (city of Sedona) and air balloon.
There is definitely much more from the mug to discover. Stay tuned for more info!
Update from March 20, 2018:
We now have a better picture of the mug.… Read more

Been There – Toronto

There were some fears that the new Been There series is just a hoax. Well, probably not, since I’ve just discovered two new pics of the new collection. Even though these are of a very low quality it makes me believe these new mugs are real.
As we can see it really looks like hand drawn design, imagine it was a kid drawing it. I can tell you right away, the initial reaction of muggers is definitely not positive, but let’s see what it looks like in real life, it’s too early to judge.… Read more

Been There Collection

The king is dead, long live the king! It was somewhat expected that Starbucks will discontinue You Are Here Series at some point. Still, most of the muggers were shocked to know that it’s already happening. According to the latest rumors, there will be no new YAHs for US and Canada, instead, a new series is being released this March – please meet “Been There Collection”!
Here’s what is known about new mugs so far:
– all 50 states are getting a mug, plus certain cities
– Canada, Central and South America are getting mugs too.… Read more

You Are Here – Utrecht

Starbucks keeps delivering! Second 2018 YAH is here and it is You Are Here Utrecht, straight from Netherlands. This colorful mug is the sixth from this country.
From the mug:
– Beaches along the banks of river Rheine.
Utrecht Centraal – largest and busiest railway station in the Netherlands
And that’s pretty much it. Although I really like recent YAHs, especially the choice of colors, I would include more landmarks for Utrecht. Specifically the iconic Domtoren, a 14th-century bell tower with city views or the Gothic Cathedral of St.Read more

You Are Here – Prague 2

Would you have guessed what is the first YAH of 2018? Under no circumstances would I bet on a second version of the existing mug from Europe! Nonetheless, such is reality – You Are Here Prague v2 has just been spotted online. Whatever Starbucks’ reasons to create a new version were, I greet this mug with joy! My personal opinion – the new mug is better looking and more festive. Do you agree?
Let’s compare both mugs. Obviously, the motif is the same but certain adjustments were done.… Read more

You Are Here – New Delhi

The second YAH from India was revealed today and it is You Are Here – New Delhi. Did you know that Delhi and New Delhi are two distinct entities, with the latter being a part of the first? I honestly had no idea.
From the mug:
India Gate – a memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War
Jantar Mantar – an observatory consisting of 13 architectural astronomy instruments.… Read more

You Are Here – Rotterdam

Christmas is over, hence no excuse to not release new YAHs! Welcome brand new You Are Here Rotterdam, the fifth Dutch mug from this series.
From the front of the mug:
The Erasmus Bridge – the 2,631 ft (802m long) bridge across the New Meuse completed in 1996. Due to asymmetrical shape of it’s main pylon, the bridge earned it’s nickname “The Swan”
– City Skyline
– soccer ball – for Feyenoord Rotterdam I believe – a professional soccer club which has a huge national support.… Read more
