Discovery Series – Canada

I include a picture of the box together with the newly released Discovery Series Canada mug to emphasize one particularity of the Discovery mugs from Canada, namely the typo on the cover of the box. I am sure this will be fixed soon, so if you want to keep this piece of Starbucks memorabilia, I suggest you don’t wait for too long and get them rather sooner than later.

Compared to some other Discovery mugs, Discovery Series Canada has quite a few symbols and landmarks (I counted fifteen).… Read more

Discovery Series – Oregon

I’ve reviewed the smaller version of the Discovery Series – Oregon mug earlier, you can see that post here. In addition to Oregon’s rocky coast, duck, blackberries, mushrooms, and Bigfoot that we saw in the design of the ornament, these are the symbols and landmarks specific to the bigger mug:

– Although tulips are not native to Oregon, they can thrive in any region of the state with the proper care and planning. The tulip on the front of the mug is probably related to the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, held in Woodburn.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Canada

If you follow my blog, you probably remember this post where I pointed out the grammatical error on the cover of the Niagara Falls mug. The newly released Discovery Series Ornament – Canada has this error too, but I am sure Starbucks will fix that soon.

As for the design of the new ornament, here are the symbols of Canada that we see in it:

– The beaver is one of the most enduring symbols of Canada, representing the country’s dynamic and hardworking spirit.… Read more

Discovery Series – Chicago

Starbucks Discovery Series – Chicago mug compliments the ornament that I reviewed earlier. I’ve already gone over these symbols and landmarks from the ornament: Chicago-style hot dog, the Chicago “L”, Chicago Botanic Garden, and Chicago’s musical heritage. In this post, we will take a look at the remaining elements of the design:

– The popcorn on the front of the mug is probably a reference to Garrett Popcorn Shops, which has been a staple since 1949. Garrett’s Chicago Mix, a delicious blend of caramel and cheese popcorn, has become a local and tourist favorite, embodying the city’s unique take on a classic snack.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Oregon

The collection of mini mugs is expanding with the release of Discovery Series Ornament – Oregon. Along with the green string, the inside of the ornament is also green, which is the color that is associated with Oregon the most, thanks to the state’s lush forests, abundant natural greenery, and the iconic green color of the University of Oregon’s sports teams.

I feel like the Discovery Series Oregon Ornament has a little bit more details than other mini mugs:

Oregon’s rocky coast is a stunning testament to the state’s natural beauty, featuring dramatic cliffs, secluded coves, and rugged shorelines.… Read more

Discovery Series – Washington, D.C.

Starbucks Discovery Series – Washington, D.C., and the ornament that I’ve added already were released together earlier this month. Traditionally, the bigger mug has more elements in the design:

– The Lincoln Memorial, an iconic symbol of American democracy, stands majestically at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln, the memorial was designed by architect Henry Bacon and features a striking 19-foot marble statue of Lincoln seated contemplatively. The memorial’s classical Greek temple design, with 36 Doric columns representing the states in the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death, draws millions of visitors annually.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Chicago

I love the blue colors of the brand-new Discovery Series Ornament – Chicago. The bigger mug will follow, so stay tuned.

Chicago, known as the “Windy City,” has a vibrant history that has shaped its identity as one of the most iconic cities in the United States. Founded in 1833, Chicago quickly rose to prominence as a major transportation and trade hub due to its strategic location on the shores of Lake Michigan. The city’s history is closely intertwined with the development of the American Midwest, from the expansion of the railroad industry to the rise of the steel and manufacturing sectors.… Read more

Starbucks Discovery Series Ornament – Washington, D.C. was spotted in the stores recently.

Washington, D.C., established as the capital of the United States in 1790, embodies a rich mosaic of American history. Its iconic landmarks, such as the White House and the Capitol, symbolize the nation’s democratic ideals and political evolution. Over the centuries, the city has been witness to pivotal moments in American history, including the Civil War, the Civil Rights Movement, and significant presidential inaugurations. As the center of political power in the country, Washington, D.C., continues to serve as a beacon of democracy and a testament to the nation’s enduring commitment to freedom, justice, and progress.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Las Vegas

Discovery Series Ornament – Las Vegas is the mini mug for the Entertainment Capital Of The World. Las Vegas, founded in 1905, began as a modest railroad town in the Mojave Desert. Its transformation into a bustling metropolis was catalyzed by the legalization of gambling in 1931, attracting waves of tourists and developers. The construction of the Hoover Dam in the 1930s also played a pivotal role, bringing jobs and a surge of workers. The post-World War II era saw the rise of iconic casinos and hotels.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – California

Discovery Series Ornament – California compliments the release of the bigger mug that I reviewed earlier.

Here is what ornament has to offer:

– The California Quail, with its distinctive topknot and intricate feather patterns, is a charming symbol of the state’s rich biodiversity. Often seen scurrying through the underbrush in small coveys, the California quail embodies the resilience and beauty of California’s natural landscapes. This iconic bird’s melodious call and striking appearance make it a beloved emblem for Californians, representing the state’s commitment to preserving its wildlife.… Read more
