Been There Sabah is a mug for the Malaysian state located in northern Borneo.

Sabah’s history as Malaysia’s easternmost state begins with the establishment of the British North Borneo Company in 1881, which administered the territory until World War II. The state endured Japanese occupation from 1942 to 1945, which devastated much of its infrastructure and population. Sabah gained independence and joined the Federation of Malaysia on September 16, 1963, a date now celebrated as Malaysia Day. Known as “Land Below the Wind” for its position south of the typhoon belt, Sabah has evolved from a resource extraction economy into a biodiversity hotspot and adventure tourism destination while maintaining its rich indigenous cultures and natural heritage.… Read more

Yet another mini mug from Malaysia! The Been There Ornament Sabah is designed using the blue color palette. This is possibly to reflect the state’s serene coastal beauty and the symbolic meanings of peace, unity, and strength found in the shades of blue on Sabah’s flag. The string of the ornament is also blue.

Sabah, known as the “Land Below the Wind,” sits on the northern tip of Borneo and carries a history as diverse as its landscapes. I thought Starbucks is going to stick to the nice number of 444 mugs for the Icon collection, however, the company decided to surprise us with the release of two new Malaysian Icons. Here is the first one from the pair – Starbucks Icon – Sabah v2.
Sabah is a state in the north of Borneo Island, Malaysia. Kota Kinabalu is the capital city, the economic center, and the seat of the state government.
The flower on the front of the mug is Rafflesia, a parasitic flowering plant, which has no stems, leaves, or roots.… Read more
