Been There Ornament – West Virginia
Starbucks Been There Ornament West Virginia has grey string and many small elements on the front of the mug.
– Mountains with the skier going downhill – West Virginia is located entirely within the Appalachian Mountains with Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Pocahontas County being the largest winter resort in the Mid-Atlantic region
– the snake – I could not find any information if there are any special snakes in WV (not found anywhere else)
– The Rhododendron maximum, or great laurel which is the state flower of West Virginia, selected on January 29, 1903
– wood logs – logging was popular in WV in 1800s. Unfortunately this lead to destroying most of original forests in this state.
There is also “Panhandle State” banner on the side, however this is highly debatable whether West Virginia is commonly called that way. Panhandle is a piece of land similar to peninsula in shape. It is not surrounded by water though, but delimited by a land border. Interesting enough, WV has as many as two panhandles, the Eastern Panhandle and the Northern Panhandle. So that’s maybe why Starbucks placed that on the ornament.
The snake they have on this cup is a very much a rattle snake, but it’s funny they’d put that on this cup considering rattle snakes are all over the US, not specifically WV.
