You Are Here – Bengbu
Starbucks You Are Here – Bengbu is a mug for the city in northern Anhui Province, China. The name of the city literally translates as “Clam Wharf” or “Oyster Quay”, hence the nickname – Pearl city. From what I understand, Bengbu used to be known for a freshwater pearl fishery. If you happen to visit this city, it is highly recommended to try a local meal which is river crayfish cooked with lots of spices. You can easily find a bunch of restaurants in downtown serving this and many other dishes.
Other things to see:
– Longzi Lake Scenic Area consists of actual Longzi Lake and mountains surrounding it – Xuehua, Caoshan, Xilu, and Zhuizi which will offer amazing views of nature.
– Zhanggongshan Park – is located on the west side of the city and is built around Zhanggongshan Pond. It is a nice place to just stroll around and watch the lake. You can also make a short hike to the top of the hill to see a nice looking pagoda. The bridge from the front of the mug seems to also be located in this park.
– the head on the front of the mug is a piece of pottery dating back to 7,300 years ago. It was discovered along with other 600 relics at New Stone Age site at Shuangdun village in 1985
