Been There – South Carolina 2
Unexpectedly, Starbucks made a decision to issue an updated version of the previously released mug. The design of Been There South Carolina v2 shows some rearrangement of the elements and removal of “the rice state” nickname. The latter doesn’t seem to be widely used, so I guess the change makes sense. The Palmetto State, on the other hand, is widely known as the reference to the state tree, the Palmetto. Speaking of which, the v1 had two of these trees in the design, one red and one yellow. The updated mug only shows one – the red one. It is worth mentioning that the palmetto also appears on the official flag of the state (see the back of the mug).
These are the points of interest and symbols from the designs of both mugs:
– Fort Sumter holds a significant place in American history as the site where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. This historic fort, located in Charleston Harbor, stands as a testament to the nation’s tumultuous past. Visitors can explore the well-preserved remains of the fort, learn about its role in the war, and enjoy panoramic views of the harbor and city skyline. It’s a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking to better understand the complexities of the American Civil War.
– Hilton Head Island is a picturesque and upscale destination known for its stunning beaches, world-class golf courses, and natural beauty. This island paradise offers visitors a blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. Miles of pristine coastline provide opportunities for sunbathing, water sports, and wildlife spotting. Golf enthusiasts can choose from an array of top-notch courses, while nature lovers can explore the island’s trails, parks, and wildlife sanctuaries. Hilton Head’s inviting atmosphere and luxury amenities make it a popular spot for families and vacationers seeking a refined coastal getaway.
– The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, often simply referred to as “The Bridge,” is an iconic landmark connecting Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Its distinctive cable-stayed design and impressive length make it both an engineering marvel and a scenic route. Whether admired from a distance or crossed on foot, bike, or car, the bridge offers breathtaking views of the Cooper River, Charleston Harbor, and the city skyline. It symbolizes the connection between the historic charm of Charleston and the vibrant growth of Mount Pleasant.
– South Carolina’s climate is well-suited for producing delicious peaches, and the state is renowned for its juicy and flavorful harvest. The warm, sunny days and mild winters create ideal conditions for cultivating these sweet fruits. From roadside stands to farmers’ markets, you’ll find an abundance of locally grown peaches available during the summer months. Whether enjoyed fresh, as part of a dessert, or incorporated into various dishes, South Carolina peaches are a delectable treat that captures the essence of the region’s agriculture.
– South Carolina’s coastal cuisine features a delectable array of seafood dishes, and shrimp soup stands out as a flavorful example. Often made with locally caught shrimp, this soup combines the region’s fresh seafood with a medley of vegetables, herbs, and spices. The result is a hearty and comforting dish that reflects the coastal influence on the state’s culinary traditions.
