Discovery Series Ornament – Saskatchewan

How about a tiny Discovery Series Ornament – Saskatchewan for a Canadian province whose history is deeply rooted in the land and the people who have shaped it for thousands of years. Long before it became a province in 1905, Indigenous nations such as the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, and Nakota thrived across the plains, developing rich cultures and deep connections to the land. The arrival of European fur traders in the 18th century brought dramatic change, as Saskatchewan became a key part of the fur trade network.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Miami

Here comes Discovery Series Ornament – Miami from a vibrant coastal city in Florida.

Miami’s history is shaped by indigenous roots, pioneering settlers, and waves of immigration. Originally home to the Tequesta people for over a thousand years, the area began to change in the 19th century when settlers arrived and the U.S. Army built Fort Dallas during the Second Seminole War. The city’s growth accelerated in 1896 when Julia Tuttle, often called the “Mother of Miami,” convinced Henry Flagler to bring his railroad south, leading to Miami’s incorporation.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Detroit

Here is the mini mug for the “Motor City.” I really like the purple color inside the Discovery Series Ornament – Detroit. I only wish the string matched the same color. Unfortunately, all Discovery ornaments come with a green string.

Detroit, founded in 1701 by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, has a rich and complex history that reflects the broader American story of industry, innovation, and resilience. Originally a fur trading post, the city grew into a major industrial hub in the early 20th century, earning the nickname “Motor City” as the birthplace of the modern automotive industry.… Read more

Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Geonosis

And last but not least in the trio is the Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Geonosis. Now that I think about it, we have four Star Wars Discovery mugs, but only three ornaments. For some reason, Starbucks never released an ornament for the Hoth mug. Is that something we can still expect in the future? I really hope so.

Geonosis holds a significant place in the Star Wars universe as the spark that ignited the Clone Wars. Introduced in Episode II: Attack of the Clones, this desert-like planet was the site of pivotal events involving major characters, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Jango Fett, among others.… Read more

Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Kashyyyk

This is the Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Kashyyyk that resembles the large mug but has fewer characters depicted in the design.

Kashyyyk, the home planet of the Wookiees, plays an important part in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. During the Clone Wars, it becomes one of the battlegrounds between the Republic and the Separatists. Jedi Master Yoda is sent there to help lead the defence alongside the Wookiees, including Chewbacca.

The most important moment on Kashyyyk happens when Order 66 is given—this is the order that turns the clone troopers against the Jedi.… Read more

Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Tatooine

As I mentioned earlier, the large Star Wars mugs are accompanied by a set of ornaments. Similar to the other mini mugs in this series, the design of the Discovery Series Star Wars Ornament – Tatooine features fewer elements compared to the larger mugs. These new ornaments come in a set of three — Tatooine, Kashyyyk, and Geonosis—and cannot be purchased separately. What I particularly like is that the circle on the front of each ornament is a custom color that matches the color of the inside of the mini mug.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – The Florida Keys

It seems that, along with the mug, Starbucks has also released the Discovery Series Ornament – The Florida Keys!

Ornaments traditionally feature minimal symbolism, and the Florida Keys mini mug is no exception, focusing on the Florida Reef Tract, which is the only living coral reef in the continental United States. Spanning over 200 miles from Key Biscayne to the Dry Tortugas, this vibrant underwater ecosystem is home to an incredible array of marine life. The reef supports numerous species of corals, colorful fish, and various invertebrates, making it an essential habitat for biodiversity.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Washington

Discovery Series Ornament – Washington is a brand new release from the Evergreen State. Washington State, located in the Pacific Northwest, is known for its rich history and diverse landscape. Named after George Washington, it became the 42nd state of the U.S. in 1889. The region was originally inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Coast Salish, before European explorers arrived in the late 18th century. The area thrived during the logging and mining booms of the 19th century and later became a hub for technology and innovation, with companies like Microsoft and Amazon calling it home.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – New York

Here comes Discovery Series Ornament – New York in addition to the big mug from The Empire State. These are the symbols of the state as seen in the design of this ornament:

Fishing in New York offers a mix of freshwater and saltwater opportunities, from casting for trout in the Adirondacks to reeling in striped bass off Long Island. The state’s lakes, rivers, and coastal waters provide year-round options for anglers of all skill levels. With diverse fish species and scenic locations, it’s a prime destination for both casual and serious fishermen.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Ottawa

My trip to Canada’s capital was a success! I was able to grab a brand-new Discovery Series Ornament – Ottawa and also a big mug that has many more landmarks of the city.

Ottawa, the capital of Canada, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1826 as Bytown, a settlement built around the construction of the Rideau Canal. It was later renamed Ottawa in 1855 and chosen as the capital of Canada by Queen Victoria in 1857 due to its strategic location between English and French-speaking regions.… Read more
