Starbucks Been There – Oaxaca is a mug for a state in Southwestern Mexico. The state is best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures who have survived better than most others in México due to the state’s rugged and isolating terrain. The most numerous and best known are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs.
The state is a popular destination for tourists attracted to its archeological sites such as Monte Albán, the pyramid complex from which you can see on the back of the mug. Besides being one of the earliest cities of Mesoamerica, Monte Albán’s importance stems also from its role as the pre-eminent Zapotec socio-political and economic center for close to a thousand years.
