The big portion of Starbucks Been There Ornament North Carolina mug is occupied by a picture of sand dunes with small wooden bridge over them. We can see the ocean behind. More than half of North Carolina’s coast is concentrated in the Outer Banks, a series of barrier islands divided into 4 regions ideal for all year, and especially summer, vacations.
Other notable elements:
– That flower at the bottom, it doesn’t look like dogwood, official state flower. So I wonder what is it?
– Small jet plane – I believe this is the reference to fort Bragg – the largest US military base by population. It is home to 82nd Airborne Division (most notable tenant of the base)
– BBQ – I was not really sure about this one, but apparently barbecue is huge in North Carolina. In part, this is due to the existence of two distinct types of barbecue that have developed over the last few hundred years: Lexington style and Eastern style. Both are pork-based barbecues but differ in the cuts of pork used and the sauces they are served with.
