Here’s another addition to the Campus Collection, a mug from the Centennial State, Starbucks Been There – University of Colorado Boulder. CU Boulder is the flagship university of the University of Colorado System. It was fascinating to learn that it was founded five months before Colorado became a state in 1876. Another rather interesting fact is that CU Boulder is the alma mater for 5 Nobel Prize laureates and 10 Pulitzer Prize winners so far.
The front of the mug showcases the aerial views of the campus, Folsom Field (stadium), and the beautiful peaks of the Rocky Mountains in the background. Folsom Field is an outdoor college football stadium that is the home field of the Colorado Buffaloes.
Other elements from the front of the mug:
– “Fight CU down the field” which is the first line from the fight song for the Colorado Buffaloes
– The two mascots are Ralphie a live buffalo, and Chip, a costumed mascot.
On a similar note, “CU” letters next to the title are in fact an official athletics logo of the university. The building below is the “Old Main” which is the oldest building on campus.
Moving to the back we see a cyclist wishing us “Happy Thursday!”. That is for the Thursday Night Cruiser Ride, a tradition, that started back in 1992 with a small group of friends riding old school cruiser bikes (on their way to happy hour). There are many more people doing this every Thursday now!
And last, but not least is the “C-Unit” which is an official Student Section at the Coors Events Center (a.k.a. the CU Events Center). The latter is home to the Colorado Buffaloes men’s and women’s basketball teams

Big thanks to a follower of this blog for providing the photos of this mug.
