The design of the Starbucks Discovery Series Crait mug is dedicated to a planet from the Star Wars universe, best known for its appearance in The Last Jedi. Covered in a layer of white salt over striking red mineral soil, the planet became the site of the Resistance’s desperate final stand against the First Order. The Starbucks mug design captures many of the memorable visual elements associated with Crait, combining scenes from the battle, iconic vehicles, crystal formations, and important characters from the film. The red, white, and icy blue color palette mirrors the planet’s dramatic appearance on screen and makes this one of the most visually distinctive designs in the collection.

Featured throughout the artwork are several landmarks, vehicles, and scenes closely tied to Crait and the events of The Last Jedi.

– The mineral-covered surface of Crait defines much of the design with its unmistakable white salt crust and deep red ground beneath. During the battle scenes in the film, the movement of vehicles across the surface exposed bright red streaks that became one of the movie’s most recognizable visuals.

– Crystal foxes (Vulptices) appear near the center of the mug. These native creatures of Crait are covered in crystalline fur that reflects the planet’s mineral environment. In the film, they helped guide the surviving Resistance members through hidden tunnels beneath the old Rebel base.

– Rey lifting rocks to save the Resistance references one of the final moments of The Last Jedi. Using the Force, Rey clears a massive rockslide blocking the escape route from the base, allowing the surviving Resistance fighters to reach the Millennium Falcon and escape Crait.

– The Millennium Falcon is featured on the left side of the design. Piloted by Chewbacca during the escape from Crait, the ship played a crucial role in distracting enemy forces and evacuating the remaining Resistance members.

– BB-8 appears throughout the artwork as one of the Resistance’s most recognizable droids. The small astromech remained active during the evacuation and battle sequences on the planet.

– Resistance ski speeders are shown racing across the salt flats near the lower portion of the design. These battered but fast-moving vehicles were used during the Resistance’s attempt to slow the advancing First Order walkers on Crait. As the speeders scraped across the white surface, they exposed the planet’s vivid red mineral layer underneath, creating some of the most visually striking scenes in The Last Jedi.

– TIE fighters surround parts of the design, representing the overwhelming First Order assault on the Resistance stronghold. Their presence reinforces the large-scale aerial conflict that unfolded above the planet’s surface.

– AT-M6 walkers stand along the right side of the mug. These massive First Order assault walkers advanced across the salt flats during the attack on the Resistance base and became one of the defining images of the Battle of Crait.

– The Resistance symbol appears above the central artwork, reinforcing the planet’s importance as the location of one of the Resistance’s final defensive battles against the First Order.

– Crait’s abandoned Rebel Alliance outpost is reflected through the icy cliffs and fortified base structures shown along the lower sections of the mug. Originally used by the Rebel Alliance before the events of the sequel trilogy, the old base became the Resistance’s temporary refuge during the events of the film.
