Been There – Sihanouk Ville

This is the last Been There mug from Cambodia. Judging by other releases from this region, the Starbucks Been There Sihanouk Ville may be replaced soon by the Discovery mug.

Sihanoukville is Cambodia’s main coastal city, located along the Gulf of Thailand and known for its beaches, tropical islands, fishing communities, and growing waterfront skyline. Originally developed in the 1950s around Cambodia’s only deep-water port, the city has evolved into both a tourism destination and an important economic hub. The Starbucks mug design combines seaside scenery, local culture, wildlife, and regional landmarks to capture the atmosphere of Cambodia’s southern coast.… Read more

Been There – Siem Reap

Been There Siem Reap is a mug for one of Cambodia’s most visited destinations, best known as the gateway to the ancient temples of Angkor. Over the years, the city has grown from a quiet provincial town into a major cultural and tourism center while still maintaining strong ties to traditional Khmer heritage. The Starbucks mug design highlights many of the landmarks, street scenes, and cultural elements associated with Siem Reap, blending famous temple architecture with local markets, riverside scenery, and everyday life.… Read more

Been There – Phnom Penh

It was not particularly easy to find pictures of the Been There Phnom Penh mug, likely due to its scarcity. I am lucky to have the ornament in my collection, which I reviewed here.

Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s capital city and cultural heart, with a history shaped by royal heritage, river trade, and resilience through centuries of change. Located at the meeting point of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers, the city has long been a center of political power and daily life.… Read more

Been There Ornament – Phnom Penh

Been There Ornament Phnom Penh comes in a custom box, together with the Cambodia ornament (see the photo below).

Phnom Penh was founded in the 15th century when King Ponhea Yat made it the capital of Cambodia. Resting at the junction of the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers, the city has always thrived on trade and culture. It later became a key center during the French colonial era, which left a lasting mark on its architecture. The city went through dark years in the 1970s but has since risen with remarkable strength.… Read more

Been There Ornament – Cambodia

Let’s continue our journey through Southeast Asia by reviewing this beautiful Been There Ornament Cambodia. Similar to some other ornaments from this region, it comes in a set with another city mini mug. You can see the photo of the box below.

Here are a few of the symbols I spotted in the design of the ornament:

Angkor Wat stands as Cambodia’s greatest symbol and the world’s largest religious monument, representing the height of Khmer architectural mastery. Built in the early 12th century under King Suryavarman II, it was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu before becoming a revered Buddhist temple.… Read more

Been There – Cambodia

Been There – Cambodia is a mug for a country with a rich history that stretches back over a millennium, with the mighty Khmer Empire reaching its zenith between the 9th and 15th centuries. The kingdom’s golden age saw the construction of magnificent temple complexes and the development of sophisticated irrigation systems that supported thriving cities. Ancient Khmer rulers established a powerful civilization that controlled much of Southeast Asia, leaving behind architectural marvels that still inspire awe today. The empire’s influence extended far beyond its borders, spreading Khmer culture, art, and Hindu-Buddhist traditions throughout the region.… Read more

You Are Here – Sihanoukville

Starbucks You Are Here – Sihanoukville is the recent release for the YAH series from Cambodia. It seems the company still has a couple of aces up its sleeve. What caught my attention, though, it doesn’t seem that designers spelled the name of the city properly, namely, they used a space between “Sihanouk” and “ville”. I can’t find this way of spelling this city anywhere else, so it looks like an error to me. However don’t expect the “fixed” v2, as no one is going to release that at the twilight of the YAH series.… Read more

You Are Here Ornament – Cambodia

A pleasant surprise for ornaments collectors – Starbucks You Are Here Ornament Cambodia. This release is special, since it’s the first time I see the same ornament coming in two different boxes. First, is the regular YAH Ornament box, the green one with grayish cover, as seen above. The second one is a set of three Cambodian ornaments – Cambodia, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh together. Thus you now have two options – either buy them separately or as a trio.… Read more

You Are Here – Cambodia

Starbucks You Are Here Cambodia is another country mug from Asia. The front of the mug is mostly occupied by Ta Prohm – ancient temple located in Angkor. It was built between 12th and 13th centuries and it is also worth mentioning that the original name of this temple is Rajavihara – “monastery of the king”. It was included in UNESCO World Heritage List in 1992 and is now in pretty much the same condition in which it was found.… Read more
