The Discovery Series Oklahoma is a mug for “The Sooner State”, where history, land, and grit come together.

Oklahoma became the 46th state on November 16, 1907, after serving as “Indian Territory” where the federal government forcibly relocated dozens of Native American tribes during the 1830s-1850s. The Land Run of 1889 opened former Indian lands to white settlement, with tens of thousands racing to claim plots in a chaotic scramble that gave rise to the “Sooner” nickname for those who entered early.… Read more

For some reason, the buffalo image is my favourite detail in the design of the Discovery Series Ornament Oklahoma.

Been There – Oklahoma 2

It has been almost two years, since an updated version of the Oklahoma ornament was introduced. I have been monitoring the web and keeping an eye on a similar revision for the full-size mug. My understanding, is that there were so many v1s produced that Starbucks had to wait till all the inventory is sold out. The change that Been There – Oklahoma 2 introduces is an addition of an apostrophe to “Boomers’ Paradise”, see the comparison photo of v1 and v2 below.… Read more

Been There Ornament – Oklahoma 2

There have been rumors about this change, but there was no evidence. Well, it is official now, Starbucks Been There Ornament – Oklahoma v2 is out. The only change I am seeing, that they’ve added an apostrophe to the “Boomers Paradise” so it became “Boomers’ Paradise”. Props to those collectors who make no big deal about the new version, but I can’t resist and have to have both in my possession.

Here’s Starbucks Been There Ornament Oklahoma mug. It has green string and following design of the front:
– Wildlife of Oklahoma: American bison, prairie dog and some non-identified bird (doesn’t look like Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Oklahoma’s state bird)
– The Oklahoma state flag which honors more than 60 groups of Native Americans and their ancestors
– Great Plains State Park, located near the city of Mountain Park, offers water sports, boating, boat ramps, camping, RV parking, swimming beach, playground, picnic areas, cycling, mountain biking and hiking trails
