Been There Ornament – Ohio

The latest addition to BTO family – Starbucks Been There Ornament Ohio. From the front:
– Cuyahoga River was so polluted in 60s that it “caught fire” once (1969)
– The Ohio Burgee – Ohio’s swallowtail flag is the only non-rectangular U.S. state flag. It was adopted in 1902
– The football helmet – am pretty sure this is related to the Ohio League which was an informal association of American football clubs active between 1902 and 1919. It is the direct predecessor to the modern National Football League (NFL).… Read more

Been There Ornament – Wisconsin

The cow from the Starbucks Been There Ornament Wisconsin is pretty cute. There are also:
– cheeses – Wisconsin is probably one of the largest cheese-producing states in the US. Here is the quote from New York Times article: “Cheese is the state’s history, its pride, its self-deprecating, sometimes goofy, cheese head approach to life”.
– apples – this is because apple is the leading fruit crop in the state
– beer – that’s for Milwaukee, the “Brew City” and the home of the four greats (Pabst, Miller, Schlitz, and Blatz)… Read more

Been There – South Dakota 2

I sincerely though we’re done with US Error mugs. Boy, was I wrong! Here comes Starbucks Been There South Dakota v2! The element which has been adjusted is word “pronghorn” instead of “prong horn deer”. And it is actually a valid fix, since pronghorn, the animal from the mug, is not a deer, and it’s closest living relatives are the giraffes and okapi.
Here’s side by side comparison of two mugs together:

Been There Ornament – Colorado

The brand new Starbucks Been There Ornament Colorado has light blue string and the inside. What’s seen on the front of the mug:
two small oil pumpjacks
The flag of the state of Colorado
the “Centennial State” nickname. It is because Colorado became a state a century after the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence.
Colorado Bighorn – is a species of sheep specific to this particular region
– some kind for spruce or fir, which is the only green element on the mug.… Read more

Been There Ornament – Houston

Here’s another mini mug from Texas, this time it’s Starbucks Been There Ornament Houston. The color palette is green and brown while string is green. What do we see here:
Magnolia City is one of the earliest of Houston’s many nicknames.
a horseshoe – referring to ranchers
an oil rig – since the economy of Houston is based primarily on the energy industry, particularly oil
Houston City Hall – constructed during 1938 and 1939
I would like to specifically mention the Starbucks cup, which is supposed to be found on each of the mugs from Been There series.… Read more

Been There Ornament – Oregon

Starbucks Been There Ornament Oregon is the fresh release from West Coast. The string is green. I was able to identify the following elements on the front:
Flag of Oregon – which became official on February 26, 1925
Multnomah Falls – a waterfall on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. The falls drops in two major steps, split into an upper falls of 542 feet and a lower falls of 69 feet, with a gradual 9 foot drop in elevation between the two, so the total height of the waterfall is conventionally given as 620 feet
Haystack Rock – 235-foot sea stack in Cannon Beach
An old wagon – is a reference to Oregon Trail – a 2,170-mile historic East–West wagon route and emigrant trail that connected the Missouri River to valleys in Oregon… Read more

Been There Ornament – Georgia

Starbucks Been There Ornament Georgia is mostly blue and has light blue string as well.
Do you know why is Georgia called the Empire State of the South? I believe it’s because of its role in the civil war. It was, and at certain extent remains, the transportation hub and financial center of the region. I have to add, that this nickname is rarely used nowadays, with the Peach State predominating. … Read more

Been There Ornament – Kentucky

I really like Starbucks Been There Ornament Kentucky because of its blue palette. Two main elements from the front (way less than those from the bigger mug):
Mammoth Cave – the longest cave system known in the world
Bluegrass Balloon Festival – a.k.a. the Adam Matthews Balloon Festival, was the fifth largest hot air balloon festival in the United States, and the largest in the state of Kentucky
The string of the ornament is light blue.… Read more
