You Are Here – Xiangyang

You Are Here – Xiangyang is another representative from this Fall’s batch of Chinese mugs. Xiangyang is an agglomeration of two once separate cities: Fancheng and Xiangcheng. The latter was known as Xiangyang before 2010 and is located south of the Han River and contains one of the oldest still-intact city walls in China. The city has a rich history and played an important role in the past of the country. That seemed to be used as an inspiration by Starbucks when designing this mug since we can see quite a few buildings belonging to historical architecture on its sides.… Read more

You Are Here – Kaifeng

Starbucks You Are Here – Kaifeng is a mug for one of the Eight Ancient Capitals of China. It is probably the most known for being the Chinese capital and one of the major trade centers of East Asia under the Song Dynasty. The design of the mug is presented with multiple architectural examples from that era. Here are some of them:
– The Iron Pagoda is a Chinese Buddhist pagoda built-in 1049. What we see now is the second construction.… Read more

You Are Here – Andorra

You Are Here – Andorra made its surprising appearance today. Who could imagine that Starbucks will go ahead with releasing the mug for the country with only one store available? One store only? Why? That’s because Andorra is a microstate on the border of Spain and France. Despite the size though, it has dozens of little villages with the smallest one, Llumeneres, having only one resident officially!
The design of the mug makes an emphasis on “things to do” when visiting the country.… Read more

You Are Here – Nice

Starbucks expands the family of French mugs with this fresh release – You Are Here – Nice, which we greet with joy, as always. This French Riviera’s city is very well known outside of the country for being a perfect holiday gateway with its amazing beaches and mountains, weather, shopping, and restaurants, as well as many other attractions. From the picture, which is kindly provided by a Facebook user, we can only see one landmark:
– Place Masséna on the front of the mug is a historic square which was named for André Masséna (a French military commander).… Read more

You Are Here – Northern Ireland

The release of this mug has been rumored for a couple of weeks now, but no real pictures have been found. Well, thanks to a kind barista who shared the hands-on images, we can now see what Starbucks You Are Here – Northern Ireland looks like. I feel like this one will be a little bit hard to get, given a somewhat limited amount of stores in the country. For those who are planning to visit Belfast any time soon, the advice is to wait till Belfast mug is out.… Read more

You Are Here – Changde

Starbucks You Are Here – Changde is supposedly the first one from the new batch of 11 Chinese mugs coming this Fall. You heard it right, Starbucks is adding 11 new YAHs for China in addition to dozens released already. Well, more mugs, more fun. It is also an opportunity to learn something new about the places you’ve never been to before (but probably going to visit someday).
The first mentions of the settlement in this area are dating back to as far as 8,000 years ago.… Read more

You Are Here – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Saudi National Day

You Are Here – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Saudi National Day is a special edition of the regular YAH. It has been released to honor the celebration of Saudi National Day which is held every year on September 23 to commemorate the renaming of the Kingdom of Nejd and Hejaz to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The mug is designed using a green color palette. Green is the main color of the flag of the country and represents Islam.… Read more

You Are Here – Japan 5 Fall Edition

Breaking news (as it usually happens with the releases from the “Land of the Rising Sun”)! You Are Here – Japan 5 – Fall Edition mug continues series of Japanese mugs, ornaments, and tumblers. These were so popular from the get-go, that Starbucks decided to have one version per season, and that’s what makes them so special.
This time the mount Fuji is wearing the red clothes which along with the falling multicolored maple leaves on the front of the mug are supposed to symbolize the Fall colors.… Read more

You Are Here – Ganzhou

Starbucks You Are Here – Ganzhou mug has been released in March and joins a numerous family of Chinese mugs.
The front of the mug is mostly displaying the elements of nature. Three oranges are the reminder that the city of Ganzhou and province Jiangxi, in general, are significant producers of oranges, especially navel oranges during winter months.
Here are some architectural places to visit:
– Mei Pass – forms the boundary between the provinces of Jiangxi and Guangdong. It used to be an important route back in the days with fortifications built along the road.… Read more

You Are Here – Bucharest

Again, thanks to a kind Facebook user, the most recent YAH release has popped up on my radar. This time it is You Are Here – Bucharest mug which was designed using many shades of blue. The front of the mug is occupied with architectural points of interest from this Romanian city:
– The Romanian Athenaeum (Ateneul Român) is a concert hall opened in 1888. It became a landmark of the city and hosts concerts on an almost daily basis.
– Triumphal Arch (Arcul de Triumf) is a stone version of the previously built wooden arch.… Read more
