You Are Here Disney – California Adventure Cars Land
The You Are Here Disney California Adventure Cars Land Prototype is yet another unreleased mug that appears to have been planned for 2017. Interestingly, the sticker on the bottom shows that the sample was approved, yet the mug never made it to store shelves. Unfortunately, despite reaching that stage of production, this design seems to have remained a prototype only. The artwork is dedicated entirely to Cars Land, the area of Disney California Adventure inspired by Radiator Springs and the landscapes of the Disney-Pixar Cars movies.
The pictures of this mug are from a private collector. You can see more of the unique collectibles in their store.
– Flo’s V8 Cafe is probably the easiest building to recognize on the front of the mug, thanks to the huge V8 emblem above its entrance. The Route 66-inspired restaurant is designed as a classic roadside diner, complete with vintage automotive details, gas pumps, and a showroom devoted to Flo’s past as a singer. It remains one of the central landmarks of Radiator Springs.
– Cozy Cone Motel appears as a group of giant orange traffic cones. In the Cars universe, the motel belongs to Sally, and its playful cone-shaped design was recreated in Cars Land as a collection of snack stands. Each oversized cone serves a different selection of food or drinks, making it one of the most recognizable parts of the land.
– Luigi’s Casa Della Tires can be recognized by the enormous stack of blue tires rising above the surrounding buildings. Luigi’s tire shop is an important location in Radiator Springs and also appears during Radiator Springs Racers, where Luigi and Guido help prepare guests’ cars before the race. Today, the area is also home to Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters.
– Radiator Springs Racers is the signature attraction of Cars Land and takes guests on a drive through Ornament Valley before entering the town of Radiator Springs and eventually racing another car through the desert. The attraction passes familiar locations such as Luigi’s Casa Della Tires and Ramone’s House of Body Art before reaching its high-speed outdoor section.

– The towering Cadillac Range forms the dramatic desert backdrop of Cars Land. Its six peaks were designed to resemble the tail fins of Cadillac automobiles produced between 1957 and 1962, while also taking inspiration from the famous Cadillac Ranch art installation in Texas. The mountains surround Radiator Springs Racers and help create the illusion that guests have entered the desert landscape of the Cars movies.
– Ornament Valley extends the desert scenery with red-rock formations, mesas, and winding roads inspired by the American Southwest. It provides the setting for Radiator Springs Racers and recreates the broad desert landscapes seen around Radiator Springs in the films. The stylized mountains stretching across the mug capture that scenery particularly well.
– The scattered cacti and desert scenery complete the Route 66 atmosphere of Cars Land. They help connect the buildings of Radiator Springs with the fictional desert environment surrounding the town, giving the mug a noticeably different look from other Disney You Are Here designs.
