This You Are Here Ornament Seoul falls into the second category.
If you’ve been following my recent posts, you already know that Starbucks never officially released a You Are Here mug or ornament for Seoul. Instead, South Korea received its own Korea Real City collection, making any Seoul item from the YAH series something that simply wasn’t supposed to exist.
Yet here it is.
Like the full-size mug I featured previously, this ornament appears to be a genuine pre-production sample created while Starbucks was exploring a Seoul addition to the You Are Here collection. For reasons we’ll probably never know, the project was abandoned before it ever reached store shelves. The result is an incredibly rare piece that offers a glimpse into an unreleased chapter of Starbucks collecting history.
The artwork will look familiar to anyone who has seen the prototype mug – it uses the same Seoul design, only scaled down for the ornament format. Together, they show what could have become a complete Seoul You Are Here release.
