Been There – Rutgers

Starbucks Been There – Rutgers was not on the list of the mugs I expected for the Campus Collection. Well, like I always say, the more the better

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is a public land-grant research university based in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Chartered in 1766, Rutgers was originally called Queen’s College. It is the eighth-oldest college in the United States.
“The Birthplace of College Football” phrase can be seen on the front of the mug. It is the reference to Rutgers being the place for the first intercollegiate football game between Rutgers and Princeton on November 6, 1869.… Read more

Been There – San Diego State

Starbucks Been There – San Diego State University mug is the second out of four that were planned so far as a part of “Campus Collection” (sub-set of Been There Series).
SDSU is a public research university founded in 1897 as San Diego Normal School and is now accepting around 25k students per year. The front of the mug is featuring Hepner Hall, the iconic academic building in the center of SDSU’s campus. The same building can also be seen on the University’s official logo.… Read more

Been There Disney – California Adventure 2

Been There Disney – California Adventure v2 follows Disneyland v2 that we’ve seen earlier. I am happy to see both Disney parks from California receiving the revision, and not just World Disney World parks (for 50th Anniversary).
I really like the new design for its bright colors and the fact that all the elements are listed in the legend on the cover of the box. Here are they:
(1) Popcorn is a popular snack in any of the Disney parks. Here’s a hint: using the refillable popcorn bucket might save you some bucks during your visit.… Read more

Been There – Florida International University

Been There – Florida International University is the first out of at least four “University Mugs” that I’ve heard are coming out soon. It seems that Starbucks is expanding the list of Been There mugs by adding new types of locations and we’ve seen the trend with Star Wars and Yosemite mugs. It adds variety and attracts new collectors on one hand, but also can blow your budget on the other hand (in case you decide to collect the whole series).… Read more

Been There Disney – Disneyland 2

Here’s Been There Disney – Disneyland v2 that continues the second wave of the Disney releases. Similar to Hollywood Studios v2 and Animal Kingdom v2, it’s more than just the new design of the mug that we see, the box has some changes as well:
– the top of the cover has “Disneyland Resort” logo instead of Disney Parks as seen on the previous version
– there is a legend of all the elements from the mug on the side of the cover of the box.… Read more

You Are Here – Hulun Buir

Starbucks You Are Here – Hulun Buir makes it the 81st YAH mug from Zhongguo (the Middle Kingdom in Mandarin, a.k.a China), and that’s not counting the Christmas Edition mugs.
Hulun Buir, located in Inner Mongolia (autonomous region of the PRC), is probably the least populous and the northernmost Chinese region that got the mug. This region is governed as a prefecture-level city and that makes it one of the biggest cities in the world by area (though very uncrowded).… Read more

Japan mugs from Been There Collection are out!

The variety of mugs that Starbucks offered in Japan was always different compared to other countries: a very limited amount of icons, five country YAHs (although depicting different seasons!) and a very unique “Japan Geography Series” that I have yet to add to the site.
But with this epic release of twenty Been There Japan mugs, Starbucks sets a new milestone for the collectibles from the Land of the Rising Sun. And even though some collectors are not big fans of the Been There series, they have to admit, that it allows a much better depiction of the place the mug is coming from, due to the simple fact that it contains many more elements on the sides of the mug.… Read more
