The Starbucks Discovery Series Guanacaste mug highlights one of Costa Rica’s most distinctive regions, known for its dry tropical forests, volcanic landscapes, Pacific beaches, wildlife, ranching traditions, and strong Chorotega cultural influence. Guanacaste is the driest part of the country, yet its landscape is remarkably varied, stretching from coastal plains and surf towns to mountain forests and active volcanic areas. The province occupies the northwestern corner of Costa Rica and is known for its volcanic landscapes, tropical dry forests, wildlife, ranching traditions, and long Pacific coastline. It is also one of the country’s best-known regions for outdoor activities, with national parks, beaches, hiking trails, and surf towns spread across the province.

Starbucks Been There – San José is the mug for the capital and largest city of Costa Rica. The architecture was chosen as the main motive of the design. Here’s what I was able to identify:
– There is a statue of León Cortés Castro on the side of the mug. He served as President of Costa Rica from 1936 to 1940. He is remembered for introducing important bank and agrarian reforms. His construction projects include the former International Airport of La Sabana.… Read more

– Guarianthe Skinneri or also know as Guaria Moradais in Costa Rica is a species of orchid. As per the Lankester Botanical Garden, there are 1,400 species of orchid in Costa Rica, 20 percent of which are only found there. This is maybe why it is the national flower of the country.
