You Are Here – Alicante

I’ve almost missed this release from December 2020. It seems that Starbucks You Are Here – Alicante came out along with another Spanish mug that I’ve previewed yesterday.
Alicante is located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea with Mount Benacantil in the center of the city. The mountain (or rather the large hill) is 550ft tall and offers an opportunity to explore Santa Bárbara Castle and enjoy the views of the city below. I don’t see it on the front of the mug, but I am sure designers placed it on the back.… Read more

You Are Here – Augsburg

A new mug for Germany was revealed on Starbucks’ Instagram page. You Are Here – Augsburg is available at both stores of the city (Hauptbahnhof and Königsplatz). It is featuring some historic buildings of the city with the clock tower standing out (on the front of the mug). This 230ft tower, called Perlachturm, is attached to the church of St. Peter am Perlach. As a bonus, you can get to the top of the tower to enjoy city views.… Read more

You Are Here – Malaga

Starbucks You Are Here – Malaga mug is coming from Spain, making it the 12th YAH mug from this country, with 10 being regular and 2 Christmas (Spain and Madrid). This new mug has a very colourful design featuring the views of the city.
I would like to mention the fish on the skewer, that you can see on the right side of the front of the mug. These are Espetos de Sardinas, a local classic specialty, which is a must-try dish when visiting Andalusia.… Read more

You Are Here – Stavanger

Starbucks You Are Here – Stavanger was another Norwegian mug released back in 2020. It features the views of the fourth largest city in the country, with the oil industry being a key industry in this region.
I would like to mention a group of words that can be seen stuck in the mountains on the side of the mug. The name of this commemorative monument is “Sverd i fjell” (Swords in Rock). The three 33ft tall bronze swords planted into the rock of a small hill next to the fjord commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord that took place in the year 872.… Read more

You Are Here – Colmar

Starbucks You Are Here – Colmar is the latest addition to the French mugs collection. The city is located in the north-eastern part of the country, close to the German border. The well-preserved historical center of the city is worth visiting for its numerous architectural landmarks, museums, and of course “La Petite Venise” (Little Venice) – a part of the city along the La Lauch River.
The front of the mug reminds us that Colmar is considered to be the capital of the Alsatian wine region known for its sunny and dry climate ideal for the production of Alsace wine.… Read more

You Are Here – Mulhouse

Starbucks You Are Here – Mulhouse is a city mug from France with a distinctive design. The location of the city close to Swiss and German borders played a significant role in its history. It was a part of the Holy Roman Empire, the Swiss Confederacy, the German Empire, and obviously France throughout the years.
The city is well known for its museums, two of which, the Cité de l’Automobile (a.k.a. the Musée national de l’automobile) and the Cité du Train (a.k.a.… Read more

You Are Here – Nancy

Starbucks You Are Here – Nancy is another French city mug coming to stores right now. Nancy is a city in the north-east of the country which was the capital of the Duchy of Lorraine back in the days. Interestingly enough, the Duchy was given to Stanisław Leszczyński (Stanislaus I, former King of Poland), who lost his throne as a result of the War of the Polish Succession in 1737. It was Stanislaus who requested the construction of Place Stanislaus, a large square built between March 1752 and November 1755 which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.… Read more

You Are Here – Dijon

There is huge news coming from France, where as many as four YAH mugs have been released for this country this week. Starbucks You Are Here – Dijon is the first of them and is dedicated to a city in the historical Burgundy region in eastern France, which is well known for winemaking.
The front of the mug shows houses with multicolored roofs known as Burgundian polychrome roofs. These are glazed flat tiles arranged in patterns. They represent the distinctive symbol of the region.… Read more

You Are Here – Trondheim

Starbucks You Are Here – Trondheim is a mug for the third most populous municipality in Norway located on the south shore of Trondheim Fjord. It is a pretty old city, founded in 997 as a trading post under the name of Kaupangen, later renamed Nidaros. The city served as the capital of Norway during the Viking Age until 1217.
The design of the mug is very simple, showcasing the views of the city with old buildings located right on the water.… Read more

You Are Here – Luxembourg

Starbucks You Are Here – Luxembourg is the first YAH mug for this country. Something tells me it will be the only one since this collection is being phased out. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe but is also one of the richest countries in the world as per GDP per capita and purchasing power.
The design of the mug is very laconic with few elements (apart from the city street with the old buildings):
– The Adolphe Bridge is a double-decked arch bridge in Luxembourg City.… Read more
