You Are Here – Mianyang

Starbucks You Are Here – Mianyang is a city mug from Sichuan Province in Southwest China.
Here are some places worth visiting:
– The Yuewang Tower was built during the Tang Dynasty by Emperor Gaozong. The best part it has a deck which allows you to see a panorama of the city, which is especially good at night when the surrounding buildings are lit in different colors (some kind of lighting show).
– Ape King Cave (Jiuhuang Mountain) – is one of the largest karst cave systems in the whole of China.… Read more

You Are Here – Hengyang

Here is the mug for the second-largest city in Hunan Province, Starbucks You Are Here – Hengyang. It is designed using a peaceful green palette with elements of nature in general and a few historic buildings on its sides.
I believe they placed Heng Shan on the back of the mug, which is the mountain range 93 mi long with 72 peaks in it.

You Are Here – Luzhou

I am adding more China mugs in an express mode in anticipation of the Holiday season. This is Starbucks You Are Here – Luzhou which comes from Sichuan province. Luzhou was an important port on the Yangtze River since ancient times. It was also known for winemaking since the Song Dynasty. The liquor industry still remains a major part of the Luzhou economy. It is worth mentioning that, the city is home for Luzhou Laojiao Company Limited, which is a producer of Luzhou Laojiao liqueur, a baijiu that has a strong aroma of fermented peaches.… Read more

You Are Here – Leshan

Starbucks You Are Here – Leshan is another mug from China. Leshan, formerly known as Jiading, is a city located at the confluence of the Dadu and Min rivers in the Province of Sichuan.
– It seems Starbucks has placed Mount Emei on the front of the mug, which is one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. It is known for the Leshan Giant Buddha (233 ft tall statue) that have been carved here from stone between 713 and 803.… Read more

You Are Here – Bengbu

Starbucks You Are Here – Bengbu is a mug for the city in northern Anhui Province, China. The name of the city literally translates as “Clam Wharf” or “Oyster Quay”, hence the nickname – Pearl city. From what I understand, Bengbu used to be known for a freshwater pearl fishery. If you happen to visit this city, it is highly recommended to try a local meal which is river crayfish cooked with lots of spices. You can easily find a bunch of restaurants in downtown serving this and many other dishes.… Read more

You Are Here – Zhuzhou

Starbucks You Are Here – Zhuzhou is yet another mug to join YAH China division. The city of Zhuzhou is part of the “Changzhutan Golden Triangle” (comprising the cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan). It is an industrial city with four key industries: metallurgy, machine manufacture, chemicals, and building materials. Despite that, most of the mug is dedicated to elements of nature. It is in the first place the Xiang River which winds through the city and then flows into the Yangtze River via Lake Dongting.… Read more

You Are Here – Deyang

This is Starbucks You Are Here – Deyang mug released for the city in Sichuan province, China. While being mostly an industrial city, Deyang is taking extra measures to keep it clean with good air quality.
If old architecture is something you’re interested in, the Ancient City Wall in Guanghan (the city which is the part of Deyang) is probably something worth visiting (can be seen on the front of the mug). It is not as big as the one in Xiangyang but still a wonderful piece of history.… Read more

You Are Here – Xiangyang

You Are Here – Xiangyang is another representative from this Fall’s batch of Chinese mugs. Xiangyang is an agglomeration of two once separate cities: Fancheng and Xiangcheng. The latter was known as Xiangyang before 2010 and is located south of the Han River and contains one of the oldest still-intact city walls in China. The city has a rich history and played an important role in the past of the country. That seemed to be used as an inspiration by Starbucks when designing this mug since we can see quite a few buildings belonging to historical architecture on its sides.… Read more

You Are Here – Kaifeng

Starbucks You Are Here – Kaifeng is a mug for one of the Eight Ancient Capitals of China. It is probably the most known for being the Chinese capital and one of the major trade centers of East Asia under the Song Dynasty. The design of the mug is presented with multiple architectural examples from that era. Here are some of them:
– The Iron Pagoda is a Chinese Buddhist pagoda built-in 1049. What we see now is the second construction.… Read more

You Are Here – Andorra

You Are Here – Andorra made its surprising appearance today. Who could imagine that Starbucks will go ahead with releasing the mug for the country with only one store available? One store only? Why? That’s because Andorra is a microstate on the border of Spain and France. Despite the size though, it has dozens of little villages with the smallest one, Llumeneres, having only one resident officially!
The design of the mug makes an emphasis on “things to do” when visiting the country.… Read more
