Been There – Korea

Been There collection is expanding pretty fast now. It is becoming obvious that 2020 is a big year for Asia. Been There – Korea mug is a brand new example of that. This release is interesting in a sense that there were no YAH mugs for Korea. Starbucks did have very similar mugs by size, but different design, not related to YAH. I kind of liked those, but still wished for more.
Anyway, here are some highlights of Been There – Korea:
– Hahoetal mask – is a mask used in one of Korea’s most traditional folk plays featuring various characters – Hahoe Tal Chum (Hahoe Mask Dance Drama).… Read more

Upcoming release of Been There – Korea

Here is a sneak peek of what is coming from Starbucks Korea very soon. As you can see from the promotional banner, there is a mug, an ornament, a tumbler and even a nice bag designed along the same lines as the Been There series. Will there be more bags from other countries or this is just unique Korean merchandise? Well, we gonna find that pretty soon, because many more releases are coming as early as this spring!… Read more

You Are Here – Jeddah

Here’s the fresh release from Saudi Arabia, Starbucks You Are Here – Jeddah. Other spellings of this city include Jedda, Jiddah or Jidda. Ans while Riyadh is considered the political and administrative center of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah is the country’s commercial center. Given the close proximity to the Red Sea, it is also a resort and seaport, second largest in Arabian Peninsula, after Dubai. Another very important role is that Jeddah serves as a gateway to Mecca (Islam’s holiest city), located just 40 mi to the east and Medina, 220 mi to the north.… Read more

Been There – Wellington

I have no good real pictures of Starbucks Been There – Wellington yet, but it is out in stores. This mug completes the New Zealand BT team of four.
Wellington is the capital and second-most populous city in New Zealand. Thanks to the location on the hills surrounding the harbor, Wellington seems to be a nice place to live or at least visit. You should definitely stroll along the waterfront, relax at Oriental Bay, Wellington’s golden-sand inner-city beach and probably hop into one of the numerous restaurants in that area.… Read more

Been There – Queenstown

Starbucks Been There – Queenstown is a mug for a resort town in New Zealand. Queenstown is built around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu. Amazing views of the lake and nearby mountains such as The Remarkables, Cecil Peak, Walter Peak make this town a great touristic destination. These are some of the activities you can expect in and around the city: skiing and snowboarding, bungy jumping, mountain biking and hiking, jet boating, rafting, sky diving and many more.… Read more

Been There – Christchurch

Starbucks Been There – Christchurch is the mug for the biggest city in the South Island of New Zealand. The exact origin of the name “Christ Church” is not known, however, it has been suggested that it is named in honor of Christ Church, Oxford.
I didn’t know much about New Zealand but I remember hearing about Christ Church on news and unfortunately in regards to a series of earthquakes between 2010 and 2012, with the biggest one claiming the lives of 185 people and causing widespread destruction.… Read more

Been There – Auckland

Starbucks Been There – Auckland introduces the new series for New Zealand. Auckland is the most populous city in the country with 1.5 million people living in its urban area. It is home to the largest Polynesian population in the world. Tāmaki Makaurau (its Māori-language name), can be translated as “Tāmaki desired by many”, and is referencing to the city’s location and climate.
Here’s what I was able to spot on the mug:
– The Auckland Harbour Bridge over the Waitematā Harbour.… Read more

You Are Here – Bern

Starbucks You Are Here – Bern is another Swiss mug released in January 2020. Bern (or Berne, as seen on Icon mug) is the capital of the country, but it was only released after Geneva, Lucerne, and Zurich.
Apart from cheese and mountains, which Switzerland is famous for, I am seeing the following points of interest on the mug:
– The Kornhausbrücke – a stone and iron bridge over Aare river. Btw, not seen on the mug but worth mentioning is the Untertorbrücke (German: Lower Gate Bridge) – an arch bridge built in wood in 1255 and then rebuilt in stone in 1461.… Read more
