You Are Here – Japan 5 Fall Edition

Breaking news (as it usually happens with the releases from the “Land of the Rising Sun”)! You Are Here – Japan 5 – Fall Edition mug continues series of Japanese mugs, ornaments, and tumblers. These were so popular from the get-go, that Starbucks decided to have one version per season, and that’s what makes them so special.
This time the mount Fuji is wearing the red clothes which along with the falling multicolored maple leaves on the front of the mug are supposed to symbolize the Fall colors.… Read more

You Are Here – Ganzhou

Starbucks You Are Here – Ganzhou mug has been released in March and joins a numerous family of Chinese mugs.
The front of the mug is mostly displaying the elements of nature. Three oranges are the reminder that the city of Ganzhou and province Jiangxi, in general, are significant producers of oranges, especially navel oranges during winter months.
Here are some architectural places to visit:
– Mei Pass – forms the boundary between the provinces of Jiangxi and Guangdong. It used to be an important route back in the days with fortifications built along the road.… Read more

You Are Here Christmas – Egypt

Starbucks You Are Here – Egypt is a country mug from 2018 Holiday Season, which fell through the cracks and which I only discovered now. What’s interesting about this mug, that it has no regular version! That is correct, we have no option to compare it to colorized one, so let’s review it as is. According to Starbucks, here are some points of interest which are associated with Egypt the most:
– Three Egyptian pyramids located in Giza are the Pyramid of Khufu (a.k.a.… Read more

You Are Here Christmas – Istanbul 2

Again, thanks to a reader of my blog with an eagle eye, I’ve discovered that there were two mugs I missed to add last Holiday Season! And here’s one of them, You Are Here Christmas – Istanbul 2 mug which is very unique in a sense, that it is the only Christmas city mug with the red handle!
Below, is the collage of all three Istanbul YAHs side by side. As you can see, there are couple other elements making Christmas v1 and v2 different, apart from the red handle, namely:
– the Christmas tree and snowman have switched places
– there are two additional candy canes on the right
– the small ship now carries a gift box
– the tram on the front of the mug is now missing the huge bow, which was initially introduced with v1

Been There – Buenos Aires

Starbucks Been There – Buenos Aires complements Argentinian collection of BT mugs. It was no surprise to see it being released as Buenos Aires is the largest city and the capital of Argentina. The city, which name can be translated as “fair winds”, is the second-most visited city of Latin America and the top tourist destination. It is well known for its preserved Eclectic European architecture and rich cultural life. Interesting to know, that it’s neither part of Buenos Aires Province nor it’s capital.… Read more

Been There – Argentina

I can finally get back and review some mugs from South America released through 2018-2019. Let me start with Been There – Argentina. This one is designed using green colors. Most of the symbols from the mug represent flora and fauna of the country. Here’s what I was able to identify:
– The Andes is the longest continental mountain range in the world which stretches across all South America. It is the highest mountain range outside of Asia with the highest mountain Aconcagua being 22,837ft (6,960.8 meters) high.… Read more

You Are Here – Bucharest

Again, thanks to a kind Facebook user, the most recent YAH release has popped up on my radar. This time it is You Are Here – Bucharest mug which was designed using many shades of blue. The front of the mug is occupied with architectural points of interest from this Romanian city:
– The Romanian Athenaeum (Ateneul Român) is a concert hall opened in 1888. It became a landmark of the city and hosts concerts on an almost daily basis.
– Triumphal Arch (Arcul de Triumf) is a stone version of the previously built wooden arch.… Read more

You Are Here – Valencia

Starbucks You Are Here – Valencia mug has been revealed by an avid collector from Spain. I really like how they pictured The Falles (Fallas) – a traditional celebration held in commemoration of Saint Joseph and specifically La Cremà. The latter is a culmination point of the celebration when all “fallas” (decorations which include huge dolls) are burnt down. That’s what those “people on fire” are on the front of the mug.
Stay tuned for more pics.… Read more

You Are Here – Oktoberfest

There were some rumors about this mug coming, yet the release of Starbucks You Are Here – Oktoberfest has caught me by surprise. Thanks to a friend, here are some exclusive photos from which you can see that the new mug has all the elements from five Oktoberfest Icons combined in one!
This includes:
– Lederhosen and Dirndl (traditional costumes worn in Austria and Germany)
– The Bavarian pretzel which is a classic Oktoberfest snack (makes good pair with beer!)
– Beer and Würstl (Bavarian sausages) is another inseparable pair and symbol of the festival
– Krinoline which has been present at the Oktoberfest since 1924.… Read more

You Are Here – Jinghong

Starbucks You Are Here – Jinghong mug has been revealed by a Facebook user today. Yes, another one has joined numerous family of Chinese mugs already available in stores.
Jinghong is a city in the far south of China’s Yunnan province. It was founded in 1180 under the name of Chiang Hung and has been always under the radar of major surrounding powers like Burma(Myanmar), Siam(now Thailand), and China.
The picture I have doesn’t allow me to properly review design elements, however, I do see Jinghong Primitive Forest Park.… Read more
