As you probably remember, Starbucks released a revised version of the Mississippi mug recently. Now, the same update was done for the mini mug as well. When compared to the first version, Been There Ornament – Mississippi 2 has the cotton branch removed and some other elements changing the size and the position in the design:

– The guitar moved from the left of the title closer to the handle. Designers used this musical instrument to emphasize Mississippi’s cultural and musical heritage, particularly through its association with the birth and development of the blues genre.… Read more

While the new mugs keep coming regularly, Starbucks continues revising its existing inventory by releasing updated versions of some of its Been There mugs. In a way, it became a hallmark of this series. Yes, we’ve seen some YAHs updated, but all those were exceptions caused by some legal reasons. And of course, that doesn’t apply to Disney YAHs, which we’ve seen plenty of.

This is one of the few rare cases when version 1 of the mug is added after version 2. That’s because no one was sure exactly, whether Starbucks Been There – Mississippi v1 existed, till now. There were some rumors, of course, plus the fact that Mississippi was one of the last state mugs to be released. It now became obvious that the delay was caused by errors found on the mug which had to be recalled and replaced with the “fixed” version.… Read more

Starbucks Been There Ornament Mississippi has a red string and the following state symbols:
– Magnolia, State’s flower and tree.
– The mockingbird was designated the official state bird of Mississippi in 1944
– Largemouth bass has been chosen as the official state fish in 1974
– Guitar and musical notes – probably related to blues which grew up in the Mississippi Delta just upriver from New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz. Blues and jazz have always influenced each other, and they still interact in countless ways today.… Read more

The release of this mug was definitely delayed, but today, the 50th state has revealed its design. Please note, Starbucks Been There Mississippi is probably an error (misprint) mug since it came out much later than other states. Unfortunately, I don’t have any proof of that, but I secretly hope someone got it (either from manufacturer or store staff) and will show to the world sooner or later. From first glance, it seems the mug is dedicated to wildlife. Let’s wait for other sides to have the full picture.… Read more
