Discovery Series – Charlotte

Here are some of the symbols of the Queen City that we can see in the design of the Discovery Series – Charlotte mug (on top of those we saw in the ornament post).

– I was not able to identify what the goat with the crown means, but it may be a nod to the origin of Charlotte’s name as the “Queen City,” honoring Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The crown ties to royalty, while the goat could symbolize strength and resilience, blending regal heritage with a playful or symbolic local touch.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – Charlotte

The minimalistic design of the Discovery Series Ornament Charlotte is easy to review, as I can clearly spot exactly five symbols or points of interest from the city.

Founded in 1768 and named in honor of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Charlotte began as a small crossroads town in the Carolina Piedmont. Its early growth was fueled by the discovery of gold in the 19th century, making it the first major gold rush site in the United States. By the late 1800s, the city became a hub for cotton processing and railroads, setting the stage for its modern economic boom.… Read more

Discovery Series Ornament – North Carolina

Discovery Series Ornament – North Carolina is an espresso version of the bigger mug that I’ve reviewed here. There are only 5 state symbols and landmarks that made it to the design of the ornament:

– The Appalachian Range, is a defining feature of the state’s natural beauty. These ancient, rolling peaks offer breathtaking vistas, dense forests, and diverse wildlife, making them a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic drive through the mountains, showcases the area’s stunning landscapes, attracting millions of visitors each year.… Read more

Been There – North Carolina 2

Remember when I’ve asked you to stay tuned to see whether North Carolina will get v2? Well, it took Starbucks almost a year to introduce the fix into the regular mug. Again, the Christmas version came fixed already. Anyway, here’s Starbucks Been There – North Carolina v2, where “WHITE WATER FALLS” has been changed to “WHITEWATER FALLS”. For your convenience, I am posting a collage of all three mugs together. What are your thoughts, guys? Is the change worth to have both mugs in your collection?… Read more

Been There Ornament – North Carolina

The big portion of Starbucks Been There Ornament North Carolina mug is occupied by a picture of sand dunes with small wooden bridge over them. We can see the ocean behind. More than half of North Carolina’s coast is concentrated in the Outer Banks, a series of barrier islands divided into 4 regions ideal for all year, and especially summer, vacations.
Other notable elements:
– That flower at the bottom, it doesn’t look like dogwood, official state flower. So I wonder what is it?… Read more

Been There – Charlotte

Here’s Starbucks Been There Charlotte mug – the photo is real, but the mug is yet to be found in stores. From what I understand, this is a sneak peek directly from production factory. So, please monitor your stores, Charlotteans, and share real pictures with us, when you see it.
Update from 2018-07-10: our reader Candace (see comments), pointed out that the street names on the sign on the front of the mug are misspelled. It says “Tyron st.” and “Trader st.”, while it should be “Tryon st.” and “Trade st.”.… Read more
