You Are Here – Euskadi

Here’s an interesting release for a country within a country. Officially, it is the Basque Autonomous Community, but probably a more common name is “The Basque Country”. Starbucks chose to use the local (Basque) name for the mug, hence the title is You Are Here Euskadi.
Speaking of the language, it is very important to note, that the Basque language (Euskera) is not related to Romance languages (Latin) like Spanish or French, and is one of the oldest languages that are being spoken today.… Read more

You Are Here Christmas Glass – Amsterdam

You Are Here Christmas Glass Amsterdam is the third and last of Glass City mugs released in 2020. Similar to others, it’s design is based on previously released (2017) YAH Christmas Amsterdam. Interestingly enough, that was the only Christmas version of this city mug, as opposed to Paris and London that had two.
Again, when comparing two mugs side-by-side it seems that all elements match, except for their location on the mug. As an example, the Christmas hat has been moved from being closer to the handle, to the left of the front of the mug.… Read more

You Are Here Christmas Glass – London

You Are Here Christmas Glass London mug is very similar in terms of the design to YAH Christmas London v2, that was released three years ago (2017). The comparison picture below shows that apart from being made of glass the new mug brings rearranged points of interest from the city. Some were moved and seem to be reduced in size, others were altered, e.g. the Christmas tree replaced the regular-looking tree.

You Are Here Christmas Glass – Paris

So different, yet, the resemblance is there. You Are Here Christmas Glass – Paris mug shows a revised design of the YAH Christmas Paris v2 released back in 2017. It is amazing how fast time flies!
For your convenience here’s the side-by-side comparison of these two below. The changes are subtle: the snowman has moved closer to the title of the mug, certain landmarks became smaller, including the Eiffel Tower.

You Are Here – Gdańsk

This is the second Polish mug from last week’s release, Starbucks You Are Here – Gdańsk, which also has a very pleasant colorful design. Gdańsk is located on the Baltic coast and is Poland’s principal seaport. Together with the cities of Gdynia and the resort town of Sopot, it forms a metropolitan area called the Tricity.
The front of the mug showcases the most famous landmark of the city – Żuraw, which is an old city gate and port crane, the largest of its kind in Europe.… Read more

You Are Here – Szczecin

Starbucks continues to spoil us with YAH releases. Two new Poland mugs were spotted in stores last week. Here’s the first of them: You Are Here Szczecin. This is the mug for the country’s major seaport and seventh-largest city. I like the recent European mugs a lot for their colors. Szczecin is not an exception. It showcases the views of the Old Town (Stare Miasto) situated on the left bank of the Oder river. It is the oldest historical district in the city.… Read more

You Are Here – Nha Trang

Thanks to a Facebook friend, I can finally share the pictures of You Are Here – Nha Trang with you. As you can see, the other sides of the mug continue the soft colors design pattern, which is meant to represent the relaxing atmosphere of the coastal resort city, which Nha Trang is. Here are some activities that you should try or places to visit when in the city:
– National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam was opened in 1922 and has more than 20,000 live and preserved specimens of local marine life.… Read more

You Are Here – Karlovy Vary

I suspect that Starbucks You Are Here Karlovy Vary mug was planned a long time ago, but considering the circumstances, this release was delayed. I very much like this nice design with soft colors and certain bright red spots. Those symbolize the fall colors of the mountains that surround the city and also the red roofs of its buildings.
Karlovy Vary is the most visited spa town in the Czech Republic with numerous hot springs. The German name of the city is Karlsbad and it had a mostly German-speaking population till 1945,
Here are some points of interest that designers of the mug were inspired by:
– The front of the mug showcases the historical buildings of the city.… Read more

You Are Here – St. Andrews

Thanks to a message and photos from the reader of this blog, it came to my attention that Scotland is getting a new mug. Starbucks You Are Here St. Andrews is joining an already big family of the UK mugs.
St. Andrews is located on the east coast of Scotland, not far from Edinburgh, the capital of the country. The town is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle and is home to the University of St Andrews, the oldest university in Scotland (and the third oldest in the English-speaking world).… Read more

You Are Here – Zhangjiajie

Starbucks You Are Here – Zhangjiajie was the missing piece of the puzzle and the last mug from the list of eighty YAH mugs dedicated to China cities. For some reason, I could not get hold of it, but it is finally making its appearance here.
Zhangjiajie is a city in the northwest of China’s Hunan province and if you try to Google it, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the first thing that comes to your attention. Displayed on the back of the mug are amazing views of the pillar-like formations that are seen throughout the park.… Read more
