You Are Here – Slovakia

Starbucks You Are Here – Slovakia mug is an interesting release in a sense that it was only recently that I’ve added ornament and icon for this country. To add more, this was version 2 of the icon. Who knew the YAH will come that fast! See more at the ornament page, but basically these are the major elements from the mug:
– Bratislava Castle – the castle in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
– The Slovak National Uprising Bridge in Bratislava, a.k.a.… Read more

You Are Here – Hungary

This is Starbucks You Are Here – Hungary mug and it took Starbucks four months to come up with the regular version of the previously released Holiday Edition. Yes, it’s one of those rare cases when the Christmas version appeared first. Here’s what I see on the mug:
– Nine-holed Bridge – is an arch bridge built between 1827 and 1833 in a Classical style. It is the longest road stone bridge in historic Hungary.
– The Nonius is a Hungarian horse breed generally dark in color.… Read more

You Are Here Ornament – Cyprus

Starbucks You Are Here Ornament – Cyprus is a very nice looking mini mug with the blue being the most used color. The string is also light blue. And it’s no wonder, because blue and white are the national colors of Cyprus, which you can find everywhere on the island: from the national flag to multiple white houses with blue rooftops along the coast.
The history of Cyprus, recorded through archaeological finds, myths and later written history, can be traced through 9,000 years.… Read more

You Are Here Ornament – Greece

Here’s Starbucks You Are Here Ornament Greece which is a copy of the bigger mug, just smaller and with the string, which is one of the shades of green (the avocado or fern green). These are some elements from the mug: sun, mountains, olive tree, Temple of Apollo (Ancient Corinth). The last, but not the least is the amphora – Achilles slaying Penthesilea, signed by Exekias, c. 530 BCE. It is now stored in the British Museum, London.
As a reminder, there was also the Christmas Edition of the full-size mug.… Read more

Been There – Bogota

Starbucks Been There Bogota mug is designed using green and rose colors. Here are the most noticeable elements from the mug:
– Capitolio Nacional (or National Capitol) is a building on Bolivar Square in central Bogotá which houses both houses of the Congress of Colombia. The construction began in 1876 and finished in 1926.
– Statue of Simon Bolivar in the Parque de los Periodistas.
– Lake Guatavita is a circular lake located in the Cordillera Oriental of the Colombian Andes 57 km (35 mi) northeast of Bogotá.… Read more

Been There – Medellin

Here’s Starbucks Been There Medellin mug and some symbols of this town. I am purposely avoiding talking about what this town is mostly known for (especially for foreigners) since the city is changing for the better and is trying hard to improve its image.
– Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture – houses cultural programs such as concerts, conferences and art exhibitions.
– Point Zero Bridge, decorated with a plumb-bob, symbolizes the center of the city and the point of origin for the surveying and numbering of Medellín
– Metrocable – a gondola lift system implemented in order to connect hard-to-reach metro areas to city center.… Read more

Been There – San Juan

Here is Starbucks Been There San Juan, the mug for the capital and the largest city of Puerto Rico. It is the third oldest European-established capital city in the Americas, after Santo Domingo and Panama City.
From the mug:
– Cruise ship – since San Juan is a favorite destination for numerous cruises, you can see 5-6 huge liners docked in the port at times.
– A colorful wooden door, with the Puerto Rican flag on it. I think designers just liked the look and colors of this door, since I could not find any special story behind it.… Read more

Been There – Puerto Rico

With the release of Starbucks Been There Puerto Rico mug, we leave US and Canada behind and move into exploring the rest of the Americas. That’s right, with the introduction of the Been There Series, we are going to see the return of Caribbean and South American mugs. As a reminder, there were multiple Icons released for those regions, but no YAHs. I want to think this is Starbucks meeting the wishes of the collectors and I consider this a positive sign.… Read more

You Are Here Ornament – Bulgaria

The release of You Are Here Ornament – Bulgaria tells me, that I underestimated the amount of minis coming out this year. Not only bigger markets like Germany are getting new releases, we’re seeing Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria joining the party as well. We can only wish that all European mugs are “minimized”, but it’s up to Starbucks marketing department to decide.
Here’s the full-sized version of this mug, same design was used for the ornament. The string is lime green.… Read more
